This particular kit fits certain years of the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Ram C/V and Volkswagen Routan (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 5,000 lbs. WD and 500 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. You will need a ratchet, a T-30 Torx bit, and fishwire. The T-30 Torx bit is used to remove the taillight assembly screws. Fishwire is used to route the custom wiring harness under the vehicle and through the taillight openings.

Open the vehicle tailgate to access the taillight assemblies. Remove the two T-30 Torx screws securing each taillight assembly. Gently pull out on the taillight, making sure not to damage the alignment tabs on the back.
Locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors behind the taillight housing. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.
Route the custom wiring harness end with the green wire under the vehicle and up through the opening under the taillight using fishwire. Route the wire to the passenger side along the backside of the bumper and up through the opening under the passenger side taillight. When not in use, roll up and store the 4-flat connector in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
