However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Nissan Sentra (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Nissan Sentra (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

The hitch has a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Yes, but all non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to use proper support will void the product warranty.
Required tools are: flat head screwdriver, die grinder, ratchet, 6" socket extension, 9/16" socket, 9/16" and 3/4" boxed end wrenches, and a torque wrench. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
Yes. You must use a die grinder to enlarge the rear hole in the driver side frame rail. This enlarged hole is used as the access hole for fishwiring the mounting hardware. The manual does not specify whether this modification is permanent or reversible.
1. Locate and pry out two plastic fascia clips at the rear of the vehicle; retain them for reinstallation. 2. Use a die grinder to enlarge the rear hole in the driver side frame rail. 3. Fishwire forward 1/2" mounting hardware through the frame access hole. 4. Reverse fishwire rearward 1/2" mounting hardware into the frame access hole. 5. Raise the hitch into position, attaching to the fishwired hardware on the driver side; 3/8" hardware pushes through the rear frame on the passenger side. 6. Using 1/2" carriage bolt, nut and spacer, attach the rear hitch plate to the vehicle tow loop. 7. Reattach the two plastic fascia clips. 8. Torque all fasteners.
Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. Torque all 3/8" hardware to 45 ft-lbs.
The kit includes: 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP6, 0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00"), 2 hex bolts (3/8-16 x 1 1/4"), 2 washers (3/8"), 2 hex flange nuts (HFN3816P, 3/8-16), 2 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2"), 3 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213, 1/2-13), 1 carriage bolt (1/2-13 x 2"), 1 square hole spacer (CM-SP4, 0.250 x 1.50 x 3.00"), and 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire.
Fishwiring is used to route the 1/2" mounting hardware through the frame access hole on the driver side. The hardware is fishwired forward through the hole, then reverse fishwired rearward to position it for hitch attachment. This allows the hardware to be secured without direct access to the frame interior.
The rear hitch plate is attached to the vehicle tow loop using one 1/2" carriage bolt, a hex flange nut, and a square hole spacer (CM-SP4, 0.250 x 1.50 x 3.00"). This bolt must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs.
The driver side is attached using fishwired 1/2" mounting hardware. Two carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2") with hex flange nuts and square hole spacers (CM-SP6) are fishwired forward through the enlarged access hole in the driver side frame rail, then reverse fishwired rearward to secure the hitch.
The passenger side is attached using 3/8" hardware. Two hex bolts (3/8-16 x 1 1/4") with washers and hex flange nuts (HFN3816P) push through the rear of the vehicle frame on the passenger side. They are secured with a 9/16" socket and held tightly on the back side with a boxed end wrench. These bolts must be torqued to 45 ft-lbs.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection is critical to safe operation.

Yes, Curt part number 56205 is designed for the Nissan Sentra. The T-Connector harness connects to the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors located in the trunk behind the taillights.
Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. The battery is located on the driver's side under the hood.
Open the trunk and remove all trunk floor coverings. Then remove the two plastic push fasteners on each side of the rear scuff panel, and pull the scuff panel out at the bottom and then up to remove it.
On the driver's side, pull back the felt trunk liner to locate the taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate the connector from the taillight housing carefully without damaging the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors, ensuring they are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat on the passenger side using the T-Connector end with the green wire.
Drilling may be required for the grounding point. If a suitable existing screw with nut is not available on the vehicle's frame near the connector, you will need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. Before drilling, verify that no miscellaneous items are hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw.
The T-Connector has two ends: one with a yellow wire that connects to the driver's side taillight wiring harness, and one with a green wire that connects to the passenger's side taillight wiring harness. There is also a white ground wire that connects to a grounding point on the vehicle's frame using the provided ring terminal and screw. The black power wire routes from the battery.
The battery connection must be fuse protected with a maximum of 10 amps. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire.
Signal circuits are limited to 3.0 amps per side, and tail/running lights are limited to 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed the tow vehicle's lamp load rating or the product rating, whichever is lower. Check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for more information.
Locate a flat spot inside the trunk that is out of the way and adhere the black converter box using the double-sided tape provided.
Route the 4-flat wire to the center of the vehicle and secure it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. Use the cable ties provided to secure any loose wires.
Reinstall all items removed during installation, including the trunk floor coverings, rear scuff panel, and felt trunk liner.
The kit includes a ring terminal and screw for grounding, double-sided tape for mounting the converter box, and cable ties for securing loose wires.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal on the driver's side under the hood. Open the trunk and remove all trunk floor coverings. Remove the two plastic push fasteners on each side of the rear scuff panel and remove the panel. Remove the plastic push fasteners holding the felt trunk liner in place on both sides.
