Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Lexus RX350L and Toyota Highlander (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
CURT custom wiring connectors are the easiest way to outfit your vehicle with a CURT trailer wiring connection. They are built with some of the most advanced technology in the industry, and each one is custom-fitted to work with a specific make and model. Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this special socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector -- also called a T-connector -- utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Rather than requiring you to cut, splice and solder into your vehicle's wiring system, the custom wiring connector uses a single OEM-compatible plug and instantly provides a standard, universal vehicle-to-trailer wiring connection, typically in the form a 4-way flat. All CURT custom wiring connectors are made vehicle-specific for the easiest possible installation and the best fit. This particular plug-in connector provides a 4-way flat socket and is designed to be a custom wiring option for certain years of the Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX350 (factory tow package may be required; to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware to establish a solid connection. It also comes with a dust cover to keep the connector socket clean when not in use. To ensure long-lasting reliability, all CURT custom wiring connectors are thoroughly tested for optimal functionality. Stress is the last thing you should feel when towing a trailer -- whether you're hauling your RV to that favorite camping destination, your ATVs up to the hunting grounds or your fishing boat to the new hidden hotspot. At CURT, we think your towing equipment should add to the enjoyment of your experience, not detract from it.

CURT part number 13394 fits 2014–2018 Toyota Highlander and 2018–present Lexus RX350L models. Confirm your vehicle year and model match these applications before purchase.
This hitch is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and tongue weight of 500 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 10mm socket, 17mm socket, 19mm socket, 1/2" socket, 6" socket extension, screwdriver, and safety glasses. A rotary tool is optional. Proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
The hitch includes 6 M12×1.25 hex cap screws (part 10-10419) and 6 1/2" conical toothed washers (part 30-00149). These are used to secure the hitch to the frame weldnuts.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch aligns with existing weldnuts in the frame and uses existing threaded plastic inserts.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Two trimming tasks are required: (1) Mark and trim the lower fascia exhaust air deflector 4 inches from the hinge to allow room for the hitch. (2) Trim plastic fascia tabs by removing lower fascia push pins to make room for the hitch to be raised into position. (3) Mark and trim the underbody panel using the trim diagram provided; dimensions are approximate, so confirm fit prior to trimming and use ribs of the underbody panel as cutting guides.
All M12 hardware (the supplied hex bolts and washers) must be torqued to 86 ft-lbs.
1. Remove 7 fasteners securing the driver side underbody panel and lower it. 2. Remove 4 rubber plugs from frame rails and unscrew 3 threaded plastic inserts from driver side frame rail. 3. Mark and trim the lower fascia exhaust air deflector 4 inches from the hinge. 4. Remove lower fascia push pins and trim plastic fascia tabs. 5. Remove 3 M12 bolts securing the metal fascia tab and tow loop from the passenger side frame rail. 6. Raise the hitch over the exhaust, align holes with frame weldnuts, and secure using supplied M12-1.25 hex bolts and 1/2" washers; torque to 86 ft-lbs. 7. Mark and trim underbody panel and reattach using fasteners from Step 1.
The following factory components are removed and returned to the owner: (1) 7 fasteners and underbody panel (which may be trimmed and reinstalled), (2) 4 rubber plugs from frame rails, (3) 3 threaded plastic inserts from driver side frame rail, (4) lower fascia push pins, (5) 3 M12 bolts, metal fascia tab, and tow loop from passenger side frame rail.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before you begin installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Periodically check this receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is essential for safe operation.
The installation difficulty is rated as moderate. Professional installation time is approximately 60 minutes; novice (DIY) installation time is approximately 120 minutes.
No, CURT hitch 13394 does not require drilling. Installation involves part removal, trimming of the underbody panel, and trimming of the fascia only.

Yes, the Curt 56217 custom wiring connector is designed for Toyota Highlander models from 2008 onwards. Installation procedures differ between 2008–2013 models and 2014+ models, so confirm your model year before beginning installation.
The Curt 56217 has a Signal Circuits rating of 3.0 amps per side and a Tail/Running Circuits rating of 6.0 amps total. The battery connection must be protected by a 10-amp maximum fuse. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
You will need a 10mm socket, ratchet, and panel trim removal tool. A 3/32" drill bit is also required if you need to drill a pilot hole for the grounding screw (not needed if an existing screw with nut is available in the vehicle frame).
Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. This is the first step for both 2008–2013 and 2014+ model years. Reconnect the battery only after all installation steps are complete.
On 2008–2013 models, the vehicle 10-pin connector is located on the driver side underneath the dash, between the emergency brake pedal and the brake pedal. The connector will be similar in appearance to the 10-pin connector on the custom wiring connector.
On 2008–2013 models, the vehicle 4-pin connector is located on the driver side in the trunk area. You must open the tailgate and remove the access panels, scuff panel, trunk panels and floor trays to access it. The connector surface should be free of rust, dirt and paint before insertion.
On 2014+ models, the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors (both 10-pin and 4-pin) are located on the back of the vehicle under the rear scuff panel. You must remove trunk floor coverings, fold down rear seats, remove the center rear storage tray cover, remove plastic push fasteners along the bottom edge of the third row of seats, and remove the driver side storage cover and tray to access them.
The black converter box is secured using the provided double-sided tape. For 2008–2013 models, locate a flat spot under the dash. For 2014+ models, locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before adhering the tape.
Insert the custom wiring connector ends fully into the vehicle connectors and ensure the locking tabs are in place. The connectors will be similar in appearance to those on the custom wiring connector. Do not force them; they should seat smoothly when properly aligned.
Drilling is not always required. You must locate a suitable grounding point, which can be an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no existing screw is available, you may drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
If an existing screw with nut is not available, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. The area should be free of rust, dirt and paint before securing the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
The Curt 56217 requires a 10-amp ATC fuse, which must be inserted into the inline fuse holder. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
The manual does not specify the exact location of the towing fuse. You must consult your vehicle owner's manual for the correct position of the towing fuse before inserting the provided 10-amp short fuse.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent damage and tangling.
After installation, test the wiring connector for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the connector functions properly. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
The maximum fuse rating is 10 amps. The battery connection must be fuse-protected, 10-amp max. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. This is especially important when drilling the 3/32" pilot hole for the grounding screw.
Open the tailgate and remove the access panels, scuff panel, trunk panels and floor trays on the driver side. Set aside all items. You must also remove the center rear storage tray cover and plastic push fasteners to access the vehicle 4-pin connector.
Open the tailgate and remove all trunk floor coverings and fold down the rear seats. Remove the center rear storage tray cover. Remove the plastic push fasteners along the bottom edge of the third row of seats. On the driver side, remove the side storage cover and tray by pulling upward. Remove the 10mm nut securing the storage tray and remove the tray. The taillight wiring harness connectors are then accessible under the rear scuff panel.
