This particular kit fits certain years of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 8,000 lbs. GTW and 800 lbs. TW. They are built with some of the most advanced technology in the industry, and each one is custom-fitted to work with a specific make and model. Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this special socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector -- also called a T-connector -- utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Yes. Fascia trimming is required. In Step 4 of installation, you must trim the lower panel cover using the contour diagrams provided in the manual as guides. The diagrams show reference dimensions of 5.50 in, 6.50 in, 4.50 in, and 1.00 in to help you align the cuts.
The CURT 13243 includes: (4) M12×1.75×30 mm hex head cap screws, grade 10.9, zinc-plated (part 10-10432); (4) 1/2 inch conical washers, zinc-plated (part 30-00149); (1) 5/8-11 UNC×5 inch hex head cap screw, grade 8, zinc-plated (part 10-10353); (1) 9/16 inch flat washer, zinc-plated (part 30-00202); and (1) 5/8-11 UNC serrated flange nut, grade 8, zinc-plated (part 20-00105).
The (4) M12 bolts must be torqued to 79 ft-lbs.
The 5/8 inch bolt must be torqued to 180 ft-lbs.
1. Remove the upper panel cover (secured by 2 quarter-turn fasteners) and lower panel cover (secured by 4 screws using 10mm socket and Phillips screwdriver). Save both covers. 2. Raise the hitch over the exhaust and into position. Loosely secure with (4) M12 bolts and conical washers. Slide a flat washer into position, then insert the 5/8 inch bolt through the washer, bumper beam, and hitch, securing with the hex flange nut. 3. Torque the M12 bolts to 79 ft-lbs and the 5/8 inch bolt to 180 ft-lbs. 4. Trim the lower panel cover using the contour diagrams as guides. 5. Reinstall the upper and lower panel covers.
The hitch attaches to the vehicle cross support and rear bumper beam using existing weldnuts on both sides. The (4) M12 bolts attach to the vehicle cross support, and the 5/8 inch bolt passes through the bumper beam.
