The taillight wiring connectors will be visible behind the housing.
The grommet is the rubber seal where factory wires run from inside the trunk to the taillight. You make a small slit in it to route the CURT wiring harness end with the yellow wire out from the trunk, through the slit, and to the taillights. This allows the new harness to follow the same path as the factory wiring.
Insert the CURT wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated factory taillight connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.
