All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. This is the final step after the hitch is raised into position and secured with the 1/2" hex flange nuts.
The hitch includes: 4 carriage bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2", grade 8, part 10-10287), 4 serrated flange nuts (1/2-13 UNC, grade 8, part 20-00062), 4 square hole spacers (0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00", part CM-SP6), and 4 pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE).
Fishwire is used to guide bolts and spacers through the frame rail access holes. In step 3, you thread one 1/2" carriage bolt and one CM-SP6 spacer through the access hole and into the forward-most hole in each frame rail, leaving the fishwires attached. In step 4, you reverse fishwire one bolt and spacer through the access hole in each frame rail, again leaving fishwires attached. When raising the hitch into position in step 5, you guide the fishwire ends through the attachment holes, then remove the fishwires and secure the hitch with hex flange nuts.
You must remove the four rubber exhaust hangers to access the installation area. The exhaust itself does not need to be fully removed, but it must be supported while the hangers are removed. After the hitch is installed and torqued, you raise the exhaust back into position and reinstall the exhaust hangers.
Yes. The first installation step is to remove the lower trim panel from the vehicle by removing two plastic fasteners using a flathead screwdriver and two hex nuts using a 10mm socket. The trim panel should be returned to the vehicle owner after installation.
