However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Toyota Yaris iA and Scion iA (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Scion iA (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, CURT hitch 11421 is designed for 2016-Present Scion iA and Toyota Yaris iA sedans. Verify your vehicle matches this model and body style before purchasing.
The hitch is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 2000 lbs and tongue weight of 200 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be applied to this hitch only if they are supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to use stabilizing straps for non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Consult the CURT catalog or www.curtmfg.com for stabilizing strap information.
CURT hitch 11421 is designed for use with ball mount #45520. Euro mount options are available: #45561 (1 7/8" ball) and #45562 (2" ball).
Required tools are: 11/16" socket, 6" socket extension, ratchet, torque wrench, die grinder, panel removal tool, and safety glasses. A die grinder is needed to enlarge the access hole on the passenger side frame rail.
The kit includes: 4× 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10282), 4× .250 x 1.00 x 2.50" square hole spacers (CM-SP11), 4× 7/16-14 UNC serrated flange nuts (part 20-00103), and 4× 7/16" fishwires (part 7_16 FISHWIRE).
Yes. Step 1 requires disconnecting three electrical harness pins from the driver side frame rail using a panel removal tool. The harness is reconnected in step 6 through the clearance hole on the driver side frame rail after the hitch is secured.
No drilling is required. However, the access hole on the passenger side frame rail must be enlarged using a die grinder to allow 7/16" carriage bolts and CM-SP11 spacers to pass through. The driver side frame rail uses existing holes.
Fishwires are used to guide the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers through the frame rail access holes and mounting holes. The fishwires are attached to the bolts, pulled through the holes to guide them into position, then removed before the flange nuts are installed. Keep fishwires attached to prevent loss into the frame rails.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person will improve the quality of the install and reduce installation time.
All 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and flange nuts) must be torqued to 70 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task, contact an authorized CURT installer for assistance. Technical support is available at 877.287.8634.
CURT Manufacturing warrants this product to be free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. CURT 11421 fits 2016-Present Scion iA and Toyota Yaris iA sedans only. Verify your exact year and model before purchasing.
Maximum trailer weight 2000 lbs, tongue weight 200 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
No drilling required. You must enlarge the passenger side frame rail access hole with a die grinder to fit the 7/16" bolts and spacers.
11/16" socket, 6" socket extension, ratchet, torque wrench, die grinder, panel removal tool, and safety glasses.
All 7/16" bolts and nuts must be torqued to 70 ft-lbs.
You must disconnect three electrical harness pins from the driver side frame rail before installation using a panel removal tool. Reconnect after securing the hitch.
Yes, the Curt 56311 is designed for Scion iA and Toyota Yaris iA sedan models. The harness is a passenger car installation (type P) with connectors located behind the driver and passenger side taillights inside the trunk.
The harness is rated for 3.0 amps per side on signal circuits and 6.0 amps total on tail/running circuits. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Do not exceed the product rating or your vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding it can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need a panel trim removal tool, wire stripper, wire crimper, and cutting tool. These are standard automotive electrical installation tools and are not included with the harness.
Yes. The first step of installation is to locate the vehicle battery on the driver side under the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal. This is a required safety step before beginning any wiring work.
The connectors are located behind the taillight housing inside the trunk. On the driver side, they are behind the driver side taillight (P3 location). On the passenger side, they are behind the passenger side taillight (P4 location). You access them by removing the trunk floor coverings, rear scuff panel, and side trim panels.
Insert the custom wiring harness end with yellow, brown and red wires between the separated vehicle taillight connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat the process on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire. Take care not to damage the locking tabs during insertion.
Drilling may be required for the ground wire installation. You must locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no existing screw is available, you will need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground screw. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground screw. The grounding point should be free of rust, dirt and paint, and located near the taillight connector.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area should be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The exact location should be chosen to keep the box secure and out of the way.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll it up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent tangling and damage.
After installation, reinstall all items removed during the install, including trunk floor coverings, scuff panel and side trim panels. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Test the harness for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. This is especially important when drilling the 3/32" pilot hole for the ground wire screw.
The harness has yellow, brown, red, green and white wires. The yellow, brown and red wires connect to the driver side taillight connectors. The green wire connects to the passenger side taillight connectors. The white wire is the ground wire, which must be secured to a grounding point using the provided ring terminal and screw.
Remove the two push fasteners securing the rear scuff panel. Remove the scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up. Take care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back of the panel, as these are needed for proper reinstallation.
Starting on the driver side, remove the push fasteners from the side trim panel. Pull back the side trim panel to locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors. Repeat this process on the passenger side after routing the harness to that side.
Open the vehicle trunk and remove all trunk floor coverings. These must be removed to access the rear scuff panel and side trim panels. Reinstall them after completing the wiring harness installation.
Yes, the Curt 56311 is designed specifically for Scion iA and Toyota Yaris iA sedan models.
You need a panel trim removal tool, wire stripper, wire crimper, and cutting tool.
Drilling may be required for the ground wire installation. You may need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole if no existing screw is available at the grounding point.
The battery connection must use a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this can cause overheating and fire.
Signal circuits are rated for 3.0 amps per side; tail/running circuits are rated for 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these ratings or your vehicle's lamp load rating.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the harness functions properly.
