No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing weldnuts on both the driver side and passenger side frame rails.

Lower the exhaust by removing the 3 rearmost rubber exhaust isolators. Support the exhaust during installation to prevent damage.
Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure it with M12 bolts and conical washers to the existing weldnuts on both the driver side and passenger side frame rails. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
Torque all M12 fasteners to 60 ft-lbs.
Raise the exhaust and reinstall the 3 rubber isolators that were removed at the beginning of installation.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps ensure the hitch remains safe and functional.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this product must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. For further information, see the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com.
CURT hitch 12172 is designed for use with ball mount #45521. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
