Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Mazda CX-5 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 600 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Mazda CX5 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

The 17 - 21 Mazda CX-5 Excluding diesel Curt 2", Class 3 Trailer Tow Hitch + 4-flat Wiring Kit 13315 (Part #CHW-2275) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, CURT part number 13315 is designed for 2013 and later Mazda CX-5 Crossover models. The hitch is a weight-carrying style with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 4,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 600 lbs.
The CURT 13315 is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and tongue weight of 600 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
No, drilling is not required. The CURT 13315 uses existing factory frame rail mounting locations and weld nuts. The installation uses a fishwire technique to route hardware through access holes in the frame rails without drilling.
Required tools are: 3/4" and 19mm sockets, ratchet, torque wrench, flathead screwdriver, pliers, safety glasses, masking tape, and a pry bar. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, CURT recommends contacting an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Yes, if a plastic underbody panel is present under the rear bumper, it must be removed. Remove the two plastic fasteners using a flathead screwdriver. Return the panel and fasteners to the vehicle owner after installation.
Yes, the exhaust must be temporarily lowered. Remove two to four of the rearmost rubber exhaust hangers (the exact number depends on your vehicle). Leave the rubber hangers attached to the vehicle; do not remove them completely.
Remove any plastic insert and/or electrical harness clip between the hitch mounting locations on the passenger side frame rail. On the driver side, unfasten the electrical harness clip on the outside of the frame rail and follow the harness to unfasten the nearest clip towards the center of the vehicle. These must be re-secured after the hitch is positioned.
The fishwire technique is used to route 1/2" carriage bolts with CM-SP12 spacers through the frame rail access holes. Thread the fishwire through the access hole and out the rearmost mounting location in the frame rail, leaving the hardware fully inside the frame rail with the fishwire attached. The fishwire is then threaded through the hitch mounting holes, and the hardware is pulled into position before the fishwire is removed.
Tape four 1/2" flat washers into position on the inside of the hitch side plates before beginning the fishwire process. When inserting M12 bolts, ensure the tooth side of the conical toothed washers are against the hitch, and the 1/2" flat washers are clamped in position between the hitch and frame rail.
Torque all M12 hardware (part number 10-10277) to 86.2 ft-lbs. Torque all 1/2" hardware (part number 10-10287 bolts and part number 20-00062 nuts) to 110 ft-lbs.
After pulling the 1/2" hardware into position and removing the fishwire, wrap cable tie(s) around the hitch mounting plate(s) and harness. Pull the cable ties tight and trim any excess.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This is a critical maintenance step to ensure safe towing operation.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Additionally, never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity when using the hitch.
The kit includes: 3 M12x1.25 hex head cap screws (part 10-10277), 2 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10287), 2 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062), 4 1/2" flat washers (part 30-00133), 3 1/2" split-cone washers (part 30-00149), 2 square hole spacers (part CM-SP12), 2 lengths of 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE), and 2 cable ties 3/16" x 8" (part 600043).
Yes, remove the tape on the side of the vehicle frame rails to expose the mounting locations. Also trim any excess seam seal if it will interfere with the hitch installation.

Yes, the Curt 56377 is designed for Mazda CX-5 SUVs. It is compatible with the vehicle's taillight wiring system and interior trim configuration shown in the installation guide.
The harness has two circuit ratings: Signal Circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side, and Tail/Running Circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Do not exceed this rating, as it can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
Required tools are: ratchet, ratchet extension, 10mm socket, Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, wire stripper, wire crimper, and cutting tool. A panel trim removal tool is also needed to remove the interior side trim panel without damage.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected before installation. Contact the vehicle manufacturer or Curt Manufacturing for this safety requirement.
Open the rear hatch and remove all floor coverings and storage trays. Remove the rear scuff panel by removing its fasteners, then pulling out at the bottom and up. On each side, remove the interior side trim panel by first removing: the push fastener and cargo tie down at the rear, the fastener from the rear seat release handle, the Phillips screw at the front upper side, and the cargo tie down at the front lower end. Use a panel trim removal tool to remove the trim panel itself.
Locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors behind the side trim panel. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. Clean the area of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drilling may be required. If a suitable existing screw with nut is not available as a grounding point near the taillight connector, you must drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
Route the black power wire from the vehicle battery as shown on the included CME-PCL-INS sheet. Refer to that sheet for specific routing instructions.
When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. When in use, route it to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly. Once installed, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer.
