Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Volvo XC60 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Volvo XC60 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

The 18 - 24 Volvo XC60 Curt 2" Class 3 Trailer Tow Hitch + 5-Flat Wiring Kit Tow Boat/Utility Trailer with Surge Brakes 13484 (Part #5W-CHW-3074) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The CURT 13484 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 4,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 400 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The manual does not specify which vehicle makes, models, or years are compatible with the 13484. Fitment information should be verified through the CURT website (curtmfg.com), a fitment database, or by contacting CURT Product Support at 877.287.8634 before purchasing.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 15mm socket, tape measure, 6" socket extension, paint marker, T-20 Torx bit, pry tool, and utility knife. For a full tools reference guide, visit curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes 2 hex bolts (M10-1.5 x 45mm, CL10.9) and 2 conical-toothed washers (7/16"). The installation also uses existing M10 weldnuts and M10 flange nuts already present in the vehicle frame and bumper beam.
Yes. Installation requires removal of the rear bumper fascia and bumper beam. The bumper beam is held by three or four M10 flange nuts on each side of the vehicle. The fascia is held by four screws at the bottom, seven screws in each wheel well, and three clips on each side, plus one or two electrical connectors.
Remove: (1) four screws from the bottom of the fascia, (2) seven screws from the wheel well on both sides, (3) two bump stops (one on each side) from inside the trunk, (4) the rear bumper fascia by pressing three clips on each side and unplugging one or two connectors, and (5) the bumper beam by unscrewing three or four M10 flange nuts on each side. Save all fasteners and components for reinstallation.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing M10 weldnuts in the vehicle frame. However, trimming is required: the rear bumper fascia must be trimmed by cutting a centered rectangle 2-1/2" from the frontmost edge at the bottom and 3-1/2" wide. Caulk around the bumper beam should also be trimmed if applicable.
Cut a centered rectangle at the bottom of the fascia that is 2-1/2" from the frontmost edge (depth) and 3-1/2" wide (width). Use a utility knife for this cut.
All M10 hardware must be torqued to 45 lb-ft. This includes the three or four M10 flange nuts on each side of the vehicle and the provided M10 hex bolts (if applicable). Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
Start with the lower nuts on the passenger side, pushing on the bumper beam and screwing the nut on just enough for thread engagement. Repeat on the lower nuts on the driver side. Loosely install the upper nuts on both sides. Then torque the upper nuts and lower nuts on the passenger side to 45 lb-ft, and repeat on the driver side. This sequence helps ensure proper alignment.
To remove debris from weldnuts in the frame, spray lubricant or compressed air into the hole. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
The conical-toothed washer should be placed with the toothed side facing the hitch side plate, as shown in the assembly diagram. The washer sits between the hex bolt and the hitch mounting surface.
Yes. The installation requires reuse of existing hardware. Save all four screws from the bottom of the fascia, all seven screws from each wheel well, the three or four M10 flange nuts from the bumper beam on each side, and the two bump stops. These are reinstalled in Steps 6-7 after the hitch is mounted.
Yes. The rear bumper fascia has one or two electrical connectors that must be unplugged before completely removing the fascia. Be sure to unplug these connectors first to avoid damage.
It is recommended to apply a bead of RTV silicone (not included) around the frame opening to prevent water intrusion prior to hitch installation. This is optional but helps protect the vehicle from moisture damage.
Reinstall the bumper stops, electrical connector(s), and fascia after trimming the fascia (Step 6). Then reinstall all fasteners removed in Step 1 (the four screws from the bottom of the fascia and the seven screws from each wheel well) in Step 7.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure. Check that all M10 fasteners remain torqued to 45 lb-ft.
Fitment is not specified in the manual. Verify compatibility at curtmfg.com, through a fitment database, or by calling CURT Product Support at 877.287.8634.

The Curt 56531 is a custom wiring harness with a powered converter module designed for SUVs and vans. It provides signal circuits for turn signals and tail/running lights, and includes a converter that can be used as a powered module for two-wire trailer brake systems. The system uses a 4-flat connector for trailer connection.
The Curt 56531 is designed for SUVs and vans. The manual specifies wiring locations for these vehicle types (S-series locations). To confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle make and model year, contact Curt Manufacturing or consult a fitment database, as the manual does not list specific vehicle applications.
The converter system must be used only on 12-volt negative ground electrical systems. If your vehicle uses a different electrical system, this product is not compatible.
Required tools are: ratchet, ratchet extension, 10mm socket, 8mm socket, wire cutter, wire stripper, crimping tool, cutting tool, panel trim removal tool, and small flathead screwdriver. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce time required.
The kit includes: custom wiring harness with yellow, green, white, black, red, and brown wires; black converter box; double-sided tape for mounting the converter; cable ties for securing wires; ground screw; ring terminal for ground connection; 4-flat dust cover; and a 10-amp fuse holder. A 10-amp fuse must be installed after all other installation steps are complete.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. Fasten this wire down and away from the battery during the installation process. Reconnect the negative battery terminal only after all other steps are complete and before testing.
Yes. You must open the rear hatch, remove the spare tire access cover, remove the spare tire hold-down, and remove the spare tire to access the battery for disconnection. The 4-flat connector will later be stored under the floor board in the spare tire area when not towing.
The custom wiring harness with the yellow wire is inserted between the separated taillight connectors (driver and passenger side). The harness with the green wire is routed to the passenger side along the rear hatch, then up the side wall to the passenger side harness and taillight. Use provided cable ties to secure loose wires and keep the harness up and out of the way. The 4-flat connector is routed to the spare tire area and stored under the floor board when not towing, routed out of the vehicle hatch without contacting the hatch locking mechanism.
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring connectors behind the taillight housings (access by removing the side wall circular foam insert using a trim panel removal tool). Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with their locking tabs in place. Repeat on both driver and passenger sides.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight. Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The manual does not specify other mounting locations.
Drilling may be required for the ground connection. You must locate a grounding point such as an existing screw or bolt in the vehicle frame. If no suitable existing fastener is available, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. The area must be free from rust, dirt, and paint; use an abrasive pad or paper to remove rust and paint before securing the white ground wire with the ring terminal. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
If drilling is necessary for the ground connection, the pilot hole size is 3/32".
The harness includes six wires with the following functions: Yellow = Left turn signal; Green = Right turn signal; Red = Brake signal; Brown = Tail/running lights; White = Ground; Black = Power (12-volt positive from battery). The white ground wire has a ring terminal for secure connection to the vehicle frame.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. The kit includes a 10-amp fuse holder. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire. Install the fuse after all other installation steps are complete.
Signal circuits (turn signals): 3.0 amps per side. Tail/running circuits: 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
The power wire from the vehicle battery must be 12 GA (12 gauge) or larger. Route this wire to the vehicle battery location, taking care to avoid pinch points and hot or rotating components.
When passing the power wire through sheet metal, use an existing grommet, add a new grommet, or use silicone to protect the power wire from sharp edges.
If using the converter as a powered module for a two-wire system, the red brake wire must be grounded.
Do not lay tools across the positive battery terminal (typically noted with red covers or a red '+' symbol), as this can cause a ground short, resulting in sparks and/or electrical shocks. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. When routing the power wire, avoid pinch points and hot or rotating components. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before wiring the power wire. Do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating.
Once the 12-volt power wire is connected to the harness, verify that the harness is functioning by attaching the battery and testing with a test light, 4-flat tester, or a functioning trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the product will function properly.
After installation, verify that all connectors are fully inserted with their locking tabs in place. Test the harness with a test light, 4-flat tester, or functioning trailer. Ensure the 4-flat connector is stored under the floor board in the spare tire area when not towing, and routed out of the vehicle hatch without contacting the hatch locking mechanism. Reinstall all items removed during installation, including the spare tire, floor board, threshold, and foam insert.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
