DRAW-TITE: North America?s Favorite Hitch

Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Part number 41116 is designed for Ford LTD, Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car, Town Coupe, Mark VI, Mercury Marquis, Grand Marquis, and Mercury Marauder. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year against this list. If your vehicle is a 1985 or later Lincoln Town Car, you will also need four (4) 3/8" spacer blocks (not included with the hitch) installed between the hitch and vehicle frame.
Yes. All 1985 and later Lincoln Town Car models require four (4) 3/8" spacer blocks installed between the hitch and vehicle frame. These spacer blocks are not provided with the hitch and must be obtained separately.
Yes. On 1995-1997 and 2003 and later Lincoln Town Car models, the external dress panel beneath the vehicle must be removed for hitch installation and then returned to the vehicle owner after installation is complete.
You will need two wrenches: 3/4" and 13mm. You will also need a 1/2" drill bit to drill the rearward holes in the frame rails.
Examine the bottom of the frame rails. Remove any weld spatter from the frame rails to allow the hitch to sit flat. Remove all undercoating from the attaching surfaces except for a thin film. This preparation is necessary on all vehicles.
Yes. You must drill a rearward hole in the bottom of each frame rail using a 1/2" drill bit. The hitch is used as a template to mark the drilling location. Do not use a torch to cut these holes.
1. Use fishwire to thread a 1/2" carriage bolt and 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 3 block through the body mount access hole on the bottom of the frame rail into the existing slot. 2. Raise the hitch into position over the bolts and install the conical washer and nut. Ensure both sides of the hitch are in the same location in the slots (forward, centered, or rearward). 3. Using the hitch as a template, drill the rearward hole in the bottom of each frame rail with a 1/2" drill bit. 4. Drop a 1/2" bolt with a 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 2 block through the opening at the end of each frame rail into the drilled hole. You may need to hold the block with one hand and the bolt with the other; turning the bolt may help. 5. Install all fasteners as shown in Figure 1 and tighten to specification.
Yes. On 2003 and later Lincoln Town Car models, you must relocate the passenger side exhaust hanger bracket. Unbolt the hanger bracket from the vehicle frame. Remove the rubber hanger from both the hanger bracket and the tail pipe bracket (see Figure 2). Rotate the rubber hanger and reattach it to the hanger bracket as shown in Figure 3. Do not reattach it to the tail pipe bracket at this time. Discard the existing exhaust hanger bolt. After installing the hitch fasteners, reattach the exhaust hanger bracket as shown in Figure 3. This relocation is also required for models with dual exhaust to provide exhaust pipe clearance.
Tighten all 1/2-13 Gr5 fasteners to 75 LB.-FT. (102 N*M).
Tighten all M8 CL8.8 fasteners to 20 LB.-FT. (27 N*M).
The hitch has two towing capacities depending on the type of ball mount used. With a weight distributing ball mount, the maximum gross trailer weight is 6000 LB (2724 kg) and maximum tongue weight is 750 LB (340.5 kg). With a weight carrying ball mount, the maximum gross trailer weight is 3500 LB (1589 kg) and maximum tongue weight is 350 LB (159 kg). Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these hitch ratings.
The fastener kit 01130-310 includes: (4) carriage bolts 1/2-13 X 1.75 GR5, (4) blocks 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 3, (2) conical washers 1/2, (4) hex nuts 1/2-13 GR2, (2) flat washers 1/2 (1.25 OD), (2) lock washers 1/2 plated, (1) hex bolt M8 X 1.25 X 30 CL8.8, (2) blocks 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 2, (1) lock washer 5/16 plated, (1) hex nut M8 X 1.25 CL10.9, and (1) block 3/16 X 1 X 2.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced immediately.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Verify that both sides of the hitch are in the same location in the slots (forward, centered, or rearward). If the hitch is removed at any time, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
