DRAW-TITE: North America?s Favorite Hitch.

Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Part number 41923 is designed for Dodge Ram Pickup Trucks from 1994 and later models. The manual notes that installation details vary by model year and bed length. Consult the manual's Figure 1 notes or contact the manufacturer to confirm fitment for your specific year and bed configuration (6-1/2' or 8').
Yes. Figure 1 shows different configurations for the 1994 model versus 1995 and later models. The manual also notes that on pre-1999 models with a 6-1/2' bed, the crossmember and rivet location varies by model, and drilling may be required on these models, whereas an 8' bed has existing holes. Refer to Figure 1 in the manual to identify your model configuration before beginning installation.
You will need wrenches in sizes 3/4", 13/16", and 7/8", a 9/16" drill bit (if enlarging existing holes), and a torque wrench calibrated to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M). You will also need a cutting tool to cut the bumper bolt strap in half as shown in Figure 2.
The hitch kit includes: 8 hex bolts 9/16-18 x 2.00 GR5 (Item j), 2 spacers 3/8 x 1-1/2 x 3 (Item n), 4 spacers 1/4 x 1-1/2 x 2 (Item k), 8 flanged locknuts 9/16-18 (Item l), 2 hardened flat washers 9/16" (Item m), and 2 reinforcement brackets (Items o and p). The fastener kit number is 01131-100.
You do not need to fully remove the bumper. You must remove the bumper bolt strap and bolt from the bumper frame assembly on one side, cut the bolt strap in half as shown in Figure 2, and loosely reinstall the bumper fasteners and reinforcement bracket inside the frame. Repeat this process on the opposite side. The bumper remains attached to the vehicle.
Drilling may be required. Step 1 states: "If needed, enlarge existing 12mm (.47) holes in frame to 9/16 (.56)." This is conditional—drilling is only necessary if the existing holes are not already 9/16" diameter. The manual notes that on pre-1999 models with a 6-1/2' bed, drilling is required, whereas 8' beds have existing holes. Use a 9/16" drill bit if enlargement is needed.
Yes. Step 3 requires you to cut the bolt strap in half as shown in Figure 2. This is a permanent modification to the bumper assembly. The cut strap is then loosely reinstalled in the rearmost lower hole through the frame and bumper bracket.
All 9/16 GR5 fasteners must be tightened to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M) using a torque wrench. This applies to all 8 hex bolts and 8 flanged locknuts after the hitch is centered and all fasteners are installed.
The hex bolts are 9/16-18 x 2.00 GR5 grade. Eight bolts are included in the kit. They must be tightened to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M).
1. Enlarge existing 12mm holes to 9/16" if needed. 2. Remove and cut the bumper bolt strap on one side, then repeat on the opposite side. 3. Insert hex bolts and hardened flat washers in the first attachment holes in each frame rail. 4. Insert hex bolts and spacers in the forward attachment holes in each frame rail. 5. Raise the hitch into position and loosely attach fasteners. 6. Center the hitch and install remaining fasteners. 7. Tighten all 9/16 GR5 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M) with a torque wrench.
Leave fasteners loose during the initial installation steps. Step 7 instructs you to "loosely attach fasteners to bolts." Only after centering the hitch in Step 8 should you install the remaining fasteners and then tighten all 9/16 GR5 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M) with a torque wrench.
Two types of spacers are used: 3/8 x 1-1/2 x 3 spacers (Item n, Qty. 2) are inserted with hex bolts in the forward attachment holes in each frame rail (Step 6). Smaller 1/4 x 1-1/2 x 2 spacers (Item k, Qty. 4) are also included but their specific placement is shown in Figure 1. Refer to Figure 1 for the exact positioning of all spacers.
Two reinforcement brackets (Items o and p) are included in the kit. One is for the driver's side of the vehicle (Item o). The manual notes that the reinforcement bracket is loosely reinstalled inside the frame during the bumper modification steps. The exact positioning is shown in Figure 1.
The hitch has two towing capacities depending on the type used: Weight Distributing hitch: maximum 14,000 Lb. (6,356 Kg) gross trailer weight and 1,400 Lb. (636 Kg) tongue weight. Weight Carrying Ball Mount: maximum 12,000 Lb. (5,448 Kg) gross trailer weight and 1,200 Lb. (545 Kg) tongue weight. Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these hitch specifications.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. The manual also states that a damaged hitch or ball must be removed and replaced immediately.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual emphasizes this as an ongoing maintenance requirement, not just a one-time check after installation.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. This is important to protect the vehicle's interior and prevent corrosion.
The manual states: "Check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened." While a specific interval is not provided, this indicates regular inspection is required. Establish a routine maintenance schedule, such as before each towing trip or monthly if the hitch is in regular use.
This hitch complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
