DRAW-TITE: North America?s Favorite Hitch

Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The hitch has two capacity ratings depending on the type of ball mount used. With a Weight Distributing ball mount, the maximum gross trailer weight is 12,000 lb (5,448 kg) and maximum tongue weight is 1,200 lb (545 kg). With a Weight Carrying ball mount, the maximum gross trailer weight is 10,000 lb (4,540 kg) and maximum tongue weight is 1,000 lb (454 kg). Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these hitch capacities.
You will need wrenches in sizes 13/16, 7/8, 3/4, and 22 mm, a 1/2" drill bit, and a torque wrench. The pullwire is provided with the hitch. Fastener Kit F41930 contains all required hardware.
Yes, if a factory hitch is present, you must remove it first. Remove the factory installed M14 bumper bolts on both sides from the bottom surface of the frame and return them to the vehicle owner.
Yes, drilling is required. Using the remaining hole in the hitch bracket as a guide, you must drill one 1/2" hole into each frame rail. The manual specifies that you must not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
The installation procedure differs in how the final carriage bolts are installed. For 3/4 ton vehicles, insert the spacer with the 1/2-13 carriage bolt directly down through the drilled hole in the frame and hitch. For all other vehicles, use the provided pullwire to guide the spacer and carriage bolt through the hole from the frame access hole on the side of the frame. Both procedures use the same fasteners and torque specifications.
The hitch is secured to the factory bolt holes using a 14 mm hex bolt with a flat washer and lock washer. Quantity 2 of these fasteners are used (one on each side). These are M14 CL10.9 fasteners that must be tightened to 115 Lb.-Ft. (156 N*M) with a torque wrench.
All 1/2 GR5 fasteners, including the 1/2-13 carriage bolts, must be tightened to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M) using a torque wrench.
All M14 CL10.9 fasteners must be tightened to 115 Lb.-Ft. (156 N*M) using a torque wrench.
Fastener Kit F41930 includes: 4 carriage bolts 1/2-13 X 2.00, 4 spacers 0.25 X 1.50 X 3.00, 2 spacers 0.25 X 1.00 X 2.00, 4 flat washers 1/2", 4 lock washers 1/2", 5 hex nuts 1/2-13, 2 hex bolts M14 X 2.00 X 40mm, 2 lock washers 5/8", and 2 flat washers 5/8". Hardware is the same on both sides.
Four 1/2-13 X 2.00 carriage bolts are used. Two are installed through the next open hole in the frame and hitch after the factory bolts are replaced, and two are installed through the newly drilled holes in the frame rails.
The pullwire is used during installation on all vehicles except 3/4 ton models. It is inserted up through the holes drilled into the frame and out through the access hole in the side of the frame. A spacer is slid over the pullwire, and a 1/2-13 carriage bolt is attached to the pullwire. The pullwire is then used to pull the bolt and spacer down through the hole in the frame.
Two types of spacers are used. For the factory bolt hole replacement, a 0.25 X 1.00 X 2.00 spacer is used (quantity 2). For the drilled holes, a 0.25 X 1.50 X 3.00 spacer is used (quantity 4). On non-3/4 ton vehicles, the larger spacer is placed between the hitch and frame rail before the carriage bolts are installed.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. This is an ongoing maintenance requirement, not a one-time check.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not continue to use a damaged hitch.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
