DRAW-TITE: North America?s Favorite Hitch

Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, part number 75251 is designed for the Dodge Dakota. The manual covers installation for this vehicle. However, the manual does not specify which model years are compatible. Contact the manufacturer or your retailer to confirm your specific Dakota year and configuration are supported.
The kit includes: 1 hex bolt ¾-10 x 2.75 GR5, 1 lock nut ¾-10 with nylon insert, 6 flat washers ¾", and 8 flat washers ½". The fastener kit is part number 75251F. The installation also reuses 2 existing bolts per side removed from the frame mounting brackets.
You need: tape, wrenches (1-1/8" and 22mm), and a torque wrench. No drill bits are required—no drilling is necessary for this installation.
No, drilling is not required. The installation uses existing frame mounting bracket bolts and does not require any new holes to be drilled.
1. Remove the lower bolts from the frame mounting brackets (2 per side); save these bolts. 2. Attach flat washers with tape to the underside of the bumper. 3. Insert the bumper bracket mounting structure between the washers and bumper. 4. Swivel the hitch into position and loosely reinstall the removed fasteners with additional flat washers. 5. Install the bumper bracket mounting structure fasteners as shown in the diagram. 6. Tighten all fasteners to the required torque specifications.
Tighten all ¾-10 GR5 fasteners with a torque wrench to 260 Lb.-Ft. (353 N·M).
Tighten all M14 CL8.8 fasteners with a torque wrench to 89 Lb.-Ft. (121 N·M).
The hitch has two capacity ratings depending on type: Weight Distributing hitch supports a maximum gross trailer weight of 8,000 lbs (3,632 kg) with a maximum tongue weight of 800 lbs (363 kg). Weight Carrying Ball Mount supports a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs (2,270 kg) with a maximum tongue weight of 500 lbs (227 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these hitch ratings.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection is essential for safe towing.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair or continue using damaged components.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
Leave fasteners loose during the initial assembly steps. In Step 4, loosely reinstall the frame mounting bolts with additional washers. Only after all components are positioned (Step 5) should you tighten all fasteners to the required torque specifications in Step 6.
Flat washers serve two purposes: they are attached with tape to the underside of the bumper (Step 2) to provide a mounting surface for the bumper bracket mounting structure, and additional washers are used when reinstalling the frame mounting bolts (Step 4) to distribute load and provide clearance. The manual notes that additional flat washers may be inserted for more clearance if needed.
Remove 2 lower bolts from the frame mounting brackets per side (4 bolts total). These bolts are reused during installation and should not be discarded. They are reinstalled in Step 4 with additional flat washers.

For Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, and Plymouth Voyager: green, brown, and white wires. For Dodge Dakota: yellow and green wires.
Lay the T-connector harness on top of the bumper. Route the connectors with green, brown, and white wires to the right side of the vehicle. Push the 4-flat plug behind the bumper fascia at the center of the vehicle. Route the remainder of the harness behind the bumper as well. When reinstalling tail lamp assemblies, position the wire harness between the housing and the body, and secure it under the bumper.
Beginning on the left (driver) side, route the T-connector harness containing the yellow wire out from under the vehicle through the taillight opening. Route the connector with the green wire across the vehicle along the vehicle frame and out from under the vehicle through the right (passenger) side tail light opening.
Disconnect the wire harness from the upper tail lamp socket. Plug the T-connector harness connectors into the mating plugs on the tail lamp socket and vehicle wiring harness. Ensure that connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this procedure for the left side.
Disconnect the vehicle's wiring harness connector from the taillight assembly. Plug the T-connector between these separated halves, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted together. Repeat this procedure for the other side using the appropriate connector (yellow wire on left side, green wire on right side).
Test the installation with a test light or trailer to verify that all connections are working correctly.
Be careful not to damage connector locking tabs when disconnecting the wire harness. Ensure that connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place when connecting the T-connector harness. Do not pinch the wires when reinstalling the tail lamp assemblies.
