They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Buick Terraza, Chevy Uplander, Chevy Venture, Oldsmobile Silhouette, Pontiac Montana and Pontiac Trans Sport (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 6,000 lbs. WD and 600 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

The Curt 13344 has a gross load capacity of 6000 lbs trailer weight and 600 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. When used as a weight distribution hitch, the capacity is 4000 lbs trailer weight and 400 lbs tongue weight. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than these ratings.
Required tools are: ratchet, 6" extension, 3/4" socket, 11/16" socket, 15mm socket, 10mm socket, pliers, drill with 17/32" bit, and torque wrench. A drill is essential because installation requires drilling 1/2" holes in the vehicle frame rails.
Yes. Step 1 of the installation requires lowering the vehicle exhaust by lowering the exhaust hanger on the passenger side. This is necessary to provide clearance for the hitch installation. The exhaust hanger is reattached in Step 7 after the hitch is secured.
If your vehicle has a load leveling compressor, it must be lowered during installation. Step 2 requires lowering the load leveling compressor on the driver's side using one M10 bolt and two M6 nuts. If necessary, the vertical tab on the compressor bracket may need to be trimmed to clear the adjacent M10 bolt. The compressor is reattached in Step 7.
Yes, drilling is required. Step 4 requires drilling 1/2" holes in the vehicle frame rails using the rearmost holes in the hitch side plate as a template. On long wheelbase models, an additional 1/2" hole must be drilled through the forwardmost hole on the passenger side plate. On short wheelbase models, the forwardmost hole aligns with an existing slot in the frame rail and does not require drilling.
Possibly. Step 2 notes that if necessary, the vertical tab on the compressor bracket should be trimmed to clear the adjacent M10 bolt. This is not always required; trim only if the compressor bracket interferes with the M10 bolt during lowering.
Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft. Torque all M10 fasteners to 45 lb-ft. Torque all M6 fasteners to 9 lb-ft. These specifications apply to Step 8 of the installation.
The kit includes: 2 handle nuts (1/2-13 UNC), 2 hex head cap screws (1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2"), 2 standard washers (1/2"), 1 serrated flange nut (1/2-13 UNC), 4 hex head cap screws (M10x1.5, 45mm), 4 standard washers (3/8"), 1 carriage bolt (1/2-13 UNC, 2"), 1 square hole spacer (.250 x 1.50 x 2.00"), 1 U-shape spacer (.250 x 1.75 x 2.00"), 4 round hole spacers (.250 x 2.00 x 2.00"), 2 round hole spacers (.188 x 1.50 x 2.00"), and 1 fishwire (1/2").
Follow these steps in order: (1) Lower the exhaust hanger on the passenger side. (2) If present, lower the load leveling compressor on the driver's side. (3) Raise the hitch into position and install M10 bolts into existing weldnuts on both sides. (4) Using the rearmost holes as a template, drill 1/2" holes in the frame rails (long wheelbase models require an additional hole on the passenger side). (5) Install the fishwire carriage bolt and spacer blocks on the passenger side through the existing slot. (6) Install the handle nut and hex bolt through the frame rail holes. (7) Reattach the exhaust hanger and load leveling compressor. (8) Torque all fasteners to specification.
On short wheelbase models (2004 and older), place 2 spacer blocks between the frame rail and hitch. On long wheelbase models, place 2 spacer blocks between the hitch and the flange nut. There may be unused spacers after installation is complete. The specific spacer types (square hole, U-shape, or round hole) are determined by the mounting configuration for each wheelbase.
On the passenger side, pass the fishwire carriage bolt and blocks through the existing slot in the frame rail down into the forwardmost hole. Secure using spacer blocks, lock washer, and nuts. The exact configuration depends on wheelbase: short wheelbase models place 2 spacer blocks between the frame rail and hitch, while long wheelbase models place 2 spacer blocks between the hitch and flange nut.
On all-wheel drive models, when reattaching the exhaust hanger in Step 7, it is necessary to pass the exhaust hanger through a 3" long slot in the side plate and use 2 1/4" spacer blocks to reattach the exhaust hanger bracket.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain safe operation and prevents loosening of fasteners due to vibration and use.
