They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Buick Terraza, Chevy Uplander, Pontiac Montana and Saturn Relay (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 6,000 lbs. WD and 600 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

The kit includes: 2× 7/16" fishwire, 6× M10×1.5 hex head cap screws (HHCS) grade 10.9, 6× 3/8" conical washers, 2× 7/16"-14 UNC carriage bolts grade 8, 4× 7/16"-14 UNC serrated flange nuts grade 8, 2× hex tap bolts, and 2× 0.250" × 1.00" × 2.50" square hole spacers.
No drilling is required on current model vehicles. However, the manual notes that frame drilling may be required on older Montana vans. If you own an older Montana van, contact Curt Manufacturing or a professional installer to determine whether drilling is necessary for your specific vehicle.
You must remove: (1) the rubber exhaust hanger and lower exhaust hanger bracket on the passenger side, (2) the fascia support bar from the frame rails on both driver and passenger sides, and (3) the compressor from the driver side if equipped. All of these components are reused or reattached after the hitch is installed.
1. Remove rubber exhaust hanger and lower exhaust hanger bracket on passenger side. 2. Remove fascia support bar from frame rails on both sides. 3. Disconnect and lower compressor from driver side if equipped. 4. Fishwire 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers through access slots in frame rails, leaving them inside the frame rail. 5. Lift hitch into position and secure with M10 bolts and 3/8" conical washers, finger tighten. Finish fishwiring carriage bolts and spacers into position and secure with flange nuts. 6. Reattach exhaust hanger bracket (some models require it to pass through hitch side plate and attach to hitch mounting tab using 7/16" bolts and flange nuts). 7. Reattach fascia support brackets and compressor (trim compressor bracket before reinstalling). 8. Torque all fasteners to specification.
Fishwiring is the process of threading the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers through the access slots in the frame rails before the hitch is lifted into position. The bolts and spacers are left inside the frame rail until the hitch is raised and secured. Do not remove the fishwire from the carriage bolt until the hitch is raised into position and secured.
Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 70 ft-lb and all 10mm (M10) fasteners to 45 ft-lb. This applies to the carriage bolts, flange nuts, and M10 hex head cap screws.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.
