This fits: 2006-2013 Audi A3 All
Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Audi A3 (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

The manual does not provide the gross load capacity, trailer weight capacity, or tongue weight capacity for this hitch. Contact Curt Manufacturing at 1-800-798-0813 or consult the product specification sheet for these critical ratings. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Required tools: torque wrench, ratchet, screwdriver, magnetic pick-up tool, 9" extension, 10mm deep well socket, 13mm socket, 3/4" socket, 9/16" socket, and T-25 Torx bit. The 10mm socket must be deep enough not to bottom out on the post when accessing the trunk hex nuts.
Yes. The manual explicitly states to remove the spare tire and clear the spare tire well of all contents before drilling. The carriage bolts are installed from the underside of the spare tire well outward during step 5.
Yes. The rear bumper must be removed to access the bumper beam support rails and trunk pan mounting points. Step 1 details the removal process: remove 3 Torx screws from each wheel well, remove both tail lights, remove 2 Torx screws beneath each tail light, remove 2 Torx screws from the bumper underside, and remove 2 hex nuts from inside the trunk.
Yes. Both tail lights must be removed to access fasteners on the rear bumper. Remove them by using a socket through the port on the inside of the trunk, rotate the light out carefully so the tabs on the back stay intact, then pull straight out from the side to remove the lens.
Yes. Drilling is required. Using the hitch as a template, you must drill two 1/2" holes through the bumper beam support rails (top side only) and holes into the trunk pan. The spare tire well must be cleared of all contents before drilling. You may need to lower the exhaust and heat shield to access the trunk pan mounting holes.
Yes. Bumper fascia trimming is required for proper fit. The manual provides a fascia trimming diagram showing trim dimensions of 2.00", 2.25", and 4.75". Trim as required after the hitch is installed and before reinstalling the bumper fascia.
You may need to lower the exhaust. The manual states that the bumper beam must be removed to access the trunk pan mounting holes, and that you may need to lower the exhaust (2 hangers) and heat shield for this access. This depends on your specific vehicle configuration.
The hitch includes: 2 nut plate weldments (CM-11192-NPW), 4 hex bolts (1/2" - 13 x 1 1/2"), 4 conical toothed washers (1/2"), 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP18, .250 x 1.00 x 2.00"), 2 carriage bolts (3/8" - 16 x 1 3/4"), 2 hex flange nuts (HFN3816), and 2 conical toothed washers (3/8").
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This applies to the hex bolts (1/2" - 13 x 1 1/2") that secure the hitch to the bumper beam support rails and trunk pan.
All 3/8" fasteners must be torqued to 45 lb-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts (3/8" - 16 x 1 3/4") and hex flange nuts (HFN3816) installed from the spare tire well.
The nut plates (CM-11192-NPW) are held inside the frame rails on both sides. Insert the hex bolts (1/2" - 13 x 1 1/2") through the hitch into the frame rail, hold the nut plates in place inside the frame, and tighten using a 3/4" ratchet on the hex bolt head. Tighten securely on both sides.
After reinstalling the bumper beam, install the carriage bolts (3/8" - 16 x 1 3/4") from the underside of the spare tire well outward. Install the remaining hex flange nuts (HFN3816) with conical tooth washers (3/8") on top. Torque all 3/8" fasteners to 45 lb-ft.
Removal sequence: (1) Remove 3 Torx screws from each wheel well, (2) Remove both tail lights, (3) Remove 2 Torx screws beneath each tail light, (4) Remove 2 Torx screws from bumper underside, (5) Remove 2 hex nuts from inside trunk, (6) Remove bumper cover, (7) Loosen bumper beam, (8) Remove spare tire and clear well, (9) Remove bumper beam (6 hex bolts), (10) Lower exhaust and heat shield if needed. Reinstall in reverse order after hitch installation and fascia trimming.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
