This particular kit fits certain years of the Mercedes-Benz R320, R350 and R500 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Yes, you must trim the underbody panel for hitch clearance. The manual includes a diagram showing where to trim. You may also need to trim the bumper cover on some models. A rotary tool is required for this work. The trimming is permanent.
The kit includes: (2) M10×1.5×45mm hex head cap screws, (2) M10×1.5×140mm hex head cap screws, (2) 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts, (2) M10×1.5 flange nuts, (2) 7/16-14 UNC serrated flange nuts, (6) 3/8" flat washers, (2) 3/8" conical toothed washers, (2) round hole spacers (CM-SP52), and (2) square hole spacers (CM-SP2).
Yes. You will remove 4 fascia bolts; 3 of these will be reused to reattach the fascia later, and 1 will not be reused and should be returned to the vehicle owner. You will also remove nuts from the underbody panel and the inside bumper mounting bolts and nuts on both sides; these should be retained and reinstalled later.
All M10 hardware must be torqued to 45 lb-ft. This applies to both M10×1.5×45mm and M10×1.5×140mm bolts and M10×1.5 flange nuts.
For vehicles without crossmembers, 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts) must be torqued to 59 lb-ft. The manual does not specify a torque value for 7/16" hardware on vehicles with crossmembers.
Vehicles with crossmembers: You remove the crossmember fasteners and use M10 bolts to secure the hitch to the crossmember and trunk pan. Vehicles without crossmembers: You remove the spare tire and tool kit, and use 7/16" carriage bolts with CM-SP2 spacers to secure the hitch directly to the trunk pan through existing holes. Both require underbody panel trimming and reinstallation of fascia bolts.
Only if your vehicle does not have existing crossmembers. For vehicles without crossmembers, you must use silicone sealant to seal hardware installed through the trunk pan (Step 10). For vehicles with crossmembers, silicone sealant is not mentioned.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is a routine maintenance requirement to maintain the warranty and ensure safe operation.
