Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Mercedes-Benz GL350, GL450, GL500 and ML350 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Part number 13102 fits Mercedes-Benz ML350 BlueTEC, GL350 BlueTEC AWD, GL450, and GL550 models from 2010 to present. Verify your exact model and year before purchasing.
As a weight-carrying hitch, part 13102 has a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Required tools are: socket wrench, 3-inch, 6-inch, and 9-inch socket extensions, 3/4-inch, 8mm, 10mm, and 13mm sockets, torque wrench, 10mm open/box end wrench, T-25 Torx bit socket, and aviation shears. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
The manual does not specify battery disconnection. No electrical work is involved in this installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends reading all instructions thoroughly before beginning and notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing vehicle mounting points and supplied nut plates.
Heat shield trimming may be required. If the heat shield contacts the hitch after installation, trim it so there is 1/8 inch clearance. Heat shields may also need to be bent slightly during installation to allow the hitch to be raised into position.
Yes. The exhaust must be lowered by removing four rubber isolators (two inside and two outside the mufflers). On some models, exhaust tips must also be removed by removing two screws and sliding the tips toward the front of the vehicle to release mounting tabs. The exhaust is raised back into position after the hitch is installed.
Yes. Remove the screws securing the rear fascia bracket and tuck the bracket up onto the reinforcement bumper beam. Save the screws for reinstallation after the hitch is installed. Some models have two individual brackets that must be temporarily removed and reinstalled after the hitch is installed. Some models may require the rear fascia bracket to be reinstalled to the back of the mounting flange for hitch clearance.
Yes. Remove the rubber isolator brackets located inside the mufflers by removing two bolts from each bracket. Return these bolts to the vehicle owner; they are not reused in the hitch installation.
Install the 1/2-inch hex bolts in this order: front outside bolt, then front inside bolt, then rear outside bolt, then rear inside bolt. Repeat this sequence for the other side. Install all bolts loosely first, then torque them to specification.
All 1/2-inch hardware must be torqued to 75 lb-ft.
All 8mm hardware must be torqued to 23 lb-ft.
The kit includes: four M8x1.25x30 hex head cap screws (part 10-10440), four 3/8-inch lock washers (part 30-00130), eight 1/2-inch conical toothed washers (part 30-00149), eight 1/2-13 UNC x 5-1/2-inch hex head cap screws (part 10-10477), two nut plate weldments (part CM-13102-NPW), and two 0.313-inch spacers (part CM-13102-S).
One spacer (0.313 inch) must be inserted into position above each hitch side plate. Two spacers are supplied with the kit.
Raise the hitch into position by pulling down on the fascia and sliding the hitch forward. Slide the hitch as far forward as possible, but do not rest it on the weld seam on the vehicle bumper beams.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This should be done regularly throughout the life of the product.
