This fits: 2008-2014 Mini Cooper Clubman
Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Mini Cooper Clubman (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)
Includes ball mount #45019, installation hardware, pin & clip

Required tools are: torque wrench, ratchet, 9" socket extension, 13mm socket, Phillips screwdriver, offset Phillips screwdriver (or wrench with Phillips driver bit), power drill, and 2-1/2" hole saw. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce time required.
Yes. You must remove the bumper cover and bumper beam. The bumper cover is secured by 8 fasteners and locking tabs. The bumper beam is secured by 4 bolts and 4 nuts (8mm). The hitch is then sandwiched between the bumper beam and the rear of the car.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
Yes. An access hole must be drilled through the bumper cover to allow access to the receiver tube. Use a 2-1/2" hole saw. Mark the drill location by measuring down 3-3/4" from the bumper cover lip and centering using the dimple in the license plate cover. Verify drill location prior to drilling to avoid damaging the sensor bracket or loose wiring.
All 8mm bolts and 8mm nuts securing the hitch must be torqued to 24 ft-lbs. These are the 4 bolts and 4 nuts removed from the bumper beam and reused to secure the hitch.
Yes. The 4 existing 8mm bolts and 4 existing 8mm nuts removed from the bumper beam in step 9 are reused to secure the hitch in step 11. The hitch attaches using existing vehicle hardware.
Remove 8 fasteners that secure the bumper cover: fastener 1 from inside the rear wheel well (may require wheel removal to access), fastener 2 from the bottom of the bumper near the rear wheel well, fastener 3 hidden behind the fender flare (use offset Phillips screwdriver or wrench with Phillips driver bit), and fastener 4 from the bottom of the bumper cover. All are Phillips screws.
Push up on the 2 lower tabs that connect the fender flare to the bumper cover from inside the wheel well. Pry the rear fender flare away from the car until it pops free. Release the side marker bulb from the fender flare. Then use an offset Phillips screwdriver or wrench with a Phillips driver bit to remove the hidden fastener 3.
Disconnect the 2 license plate light harnesses and the rear sensor harness when removing the bumper cover. Reconnect them when raising the bumper cover back to the car during reassembly. Also remove and reinstall 7 wiring harness clips from the bumper beam.
1. Remove 8 bumper cover fasteners and disconnect wiring harnesses. 2. Remove bumper beam (4 bolts, 4 nuts). 3. Align hitch holes and weld studs with vehicle holes. 4. Sandwich hitch between bumper beam and rear of car. 5. Secure with 4 bolts and 4 nuts, torque to 24 ft-lbs. 6. Drill 2-1/2" access hole in bumper cover (3-3/4" down from lip, centered on license plate dimple). 7. Reinstall wiring clips, bumper cover, and all fasteners.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product.
Yes. Support the bumper beam before removing bolts to prevent it from falling. This is critical for safety and to prevent damage to the vehicle.
Possibly. Longer safety chains may be required to reach the chain loops. Verify that your safety chains are long enough to clear the bumper cover while turning before towing.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This maintenance is essential for safe operation and to maintain warranty coverage.
