This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and RVR (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

Required tools are: torque wrench, ratchet, 14mm socket, 17mm socket, 19mm socket, 3/4" socket, and 6" extension. For 2020 model year and newer vehicles, you will also need either a rotary tool (Dremel) or aviation shears to trim the fascia.

1. Remove 3 bolts and tow loop from passenger side frame rail. 2. Insert 1/2-13 x 4.5" carriage bolts and CM-12048-SP spacers through existing holes in frame rails, flush with inside. 3. Trim fascia if 2020 MY or newer. 4. Raise hitch into position and slide bolts through hitch holes; loosely secure with 1/2" hex flange nuts (driver side first, then passenger side). 5. Align bottom tabs with weldnuts and secure with M10-1.25 x 25mm bolts and 3/8" conical washers. 6. Reinstall charcoal canister. 7. Torque all fasteners.
Temporary lowering of the charcoal canister on the driver side eases installation because it provides better access to the holes in the side of the frame rail. The charcoal canister must be reinstalled after the hitch is positioned (step 6).
No. After inserting the 1/2-13 x 4.5" carriage bolts and CM-12048-SP spacers through the frame rail holes, push them back so the end is flush with the inside of the frame rails. They are not fully tightened until step 7, after the hitch is positioned and all bolts are in place.
The 0.250" spacer plates (CM-12048-SP) are placed under the carriage bolts to ensure proper alignment and support. When the hitch is raised into position and the bolts are slid through the hitch holes, the carriage bolts must rest flat on these spacers to maintain correct positioning before final torquing.
Torque all 10mm hardware to 48 ft-lbs. Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. This includes the M10-1.25 x 25mm bolts (48 ft-lbs) and the 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts and flange nuts (110 ft-lbs).
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is important for safe towing operation.
