The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. You must lower the exhaust by loosening the strap that fastens the exhaust pipes together behind the muffler and detaching the pipes from each other, then carefully lower the rear of the muffler to hang from the remaining exhaust hanger. On 2010 models only, the rear exhaust hangers must also be removed and relocated. On 2011 models, only the rearmost rubber isolator on both mufflers needs to be removed.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
A vehicle lift is not required for standard installation. However, if you choose to leave the exhaust pipes attached and remove both sets of exhaust hangers (an alternative method), a vehicle lift would then be required.
Torque all 3/8" hardware to 45 ft/lbs and all 7/16" hardware to 70 ft/lbs. This applies to all fasteners used in the installation.

Fishwire is a technique for threading fasteners (carriage bolts and spacers) through access holes in the frame rails into position before raising the hitch. The manual instructs you to fishwire the shorter 7/16 x 1" carriage bolts and SP2 spacers first, then the longer 7/16 x 1 1/2" bolts and spacers, and finally (on 2010 models) the 3/8 x 2" bolts with SP-18 and SP-52 spacers. Refer to the fishwire technique diagram in the manual for visual guidance.
Fasteners should be left loose during the initial installation steps. After fishwiring the hardware and raising the hitch into position, attach the hitch loosely with flange nuts. Only after all hardware is in place and the hitch is positioned correctly should you torque all fasteners to their final specifications: 3/8" hardware to 45 ft/lbs and 7/16" hardware to 70 ft/lbs.
Yes. On 2010 models, the rear exhaust hangers must be removed and relocated, and additional 3/8" hardware (carriage bolts, spacers, and flange nuts) is used to secure the relocated exhaust hangers. On 2010 models, the driver side uses a lower outside hole and the passenger side uses an upper inside hole for the 3/8" bolts. On 2011 models, only the rearmost rubber isolator on both mufflers is removed, and no exhaust hanger relocation is required.
