This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Toyota Prius, Prius Plug-In and Prius V (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Yes. You must remove the existing tow loop and its bolts before installation. Return the tow loop and bolts to the vehicle owner. On standard Prius models, access the bolts through the tow loop cut-out in the underbody panel.
You do not need to remove the entire exhaust. However, you must remove the existing bolts from the rearmost exhaust hanger to the lower exhaust and return them to the owner. For ease of installation, the manual recommends removing the rearmost rubber isolator; see the rubber isolator removal diagram in the manual.
The manual states that 2 people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake the task on your own, CURT recommends contacting an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
All 12 mm fasteners must be torqued to 86 ft-lbs.
No. In step 3, you loosely attach the hitch to the weldnuts using the supplied bolts and washers. Only after positioning both the driver and passenger side plates (steps 3 and 4) do you torque all 12 mm fasteners to 86 ft-lbs in step 5.
1. Remove existing bolts from the rearmost exhaust hanger to the lower exhaust and return them to the owner. Optionally remove the rubber isolator. 2. Remove existing bolts from the tow loop and return the tow loop and bolts to the owner. 3. Position the hitch by raising the driver side plate against the frame rail and loosely attach it using M12 – 1.25 × 40 mm bolts with 1/2-inch conical toothed washers. 4. Clamp the passenger side plate between the frame rail and exhaust bracket and secure it with the same bolts and washers. 5. Torque all 12 mm fasteners to 86 ft-lbs. 6. Reinstall the rubber isolator if it was removed in step 1.
Raise the driver side plate against the frame rail. On standard Prius models, this plate will go through the tow loop cut-out in the underbody panel. Loosely attach it to the weldnuts in the frame using the supplied M12 – 1.25 × 40 mm bolts with 1/2-inch conical toothed washers.
Clamp the passenger side plate between the frame rail and the exhaust bracket. Secure it using M12 – 1.25 × 40 mm bolts with 1/2-inch conical toothed washers.
CURT 11276 is designed for use with ball mount #45501. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8-inch ball) and #45572 (2-inch ball). The ball mount must be used in the rise position only.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads.
