Whatever the next checkpoint is on your adventure -- whether it's getting your bike on the trail before sunrise or making it to the campground before dark -- CURT class 2 hitches let you Bring It with confidence. These receiver hitches are made to handle most light-duty towing applications and offer a custom fit for your vehicle. Typically used on full-size cars, crossovers, compact SUVs, minivans or even compact pickup trucks, a CURT class 2 trailer hitch complements the design of smaller vehicles. This particular class 2 hitch is made to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Ford C-Max (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It offers a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. Class 2 trailer hitches can typically be used to tow a variety of lightweight trailers, such as a small utility trailer, small fishing boat trailer or popup camper (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). They are also perfect for adding cargo space to your vehicle with a bike rack or cargo carrier. This class 2 hitch features a 1-1/4" receiver tube to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch-mounted accessory. For safety, it is tested in accordance with SAE J684. A custom trailer hitch design requires extra care, and as such, CURT class 2 hitches are engineered using real vehicles and hands-on research. We use high-strength steel, robotic welding and rigorous testing to produce hitches that are built to fit your lifestyle. To ensure that each hitch will be a reliable extension of your vehicle, we also finish our hitches in a co-curing of liquid A-coat and black powder coat, giving them long-lasting rust and wear resistance.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)
Includes installation hardware

Yes, part number 12092 is designed for all Ford C-MAX models from 2013-present with hatchback body style. It is not compatible with other Ford models or body styles.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be applied to this hitch only if they are supported by Curt 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty.
The hitch is designed for use with Curt ballmount part number D-55001 or 45501. A euro mount option is also available: part number 45571 (1-7/8" ball) or 45572 (2" ball).
Yes, drilling is required. You will need to drill holes in the vehicle frame rails using a 15/32" drill bit, and enlarge access holes using a die grinder to allow 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers to pass through.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, power drill, die grinder, 6" extension, 15/32" drill bit, 11/16" socket, 13mm socket, and safety glasses. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce time required.
Yes. The driver side rear exhaust bracket must be lowered by removing 2 bolts in Step 1. These bolts are returned to the owner and are not part of the hitch installation. The exhaust bracket is then sandwiched between the frame rail and hitch side plate during final assembly.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends this but does not state it as a strict requirement.
Torque all M8 hardware to 23 ft-lbs. Torque all 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and flange nuts) to 70 ft-lbs.
The kit includes: 2× M8×1.25×40 hex cap screws (part 10-10417), 4× 3/8" conical toothed washers (part 30-00148), 2× 7/16"-14 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00103), 2× 0.250×1.00×2.00" square hole spacers (part CM-SP7), 2× 7/16"-14×1-1/2" carriage bolts (part 10-10282), 2× 7/16" fishwires (part 7_16 FISHWIRE), and 2× M8×1.25×30 hex cap screws (part 10-10440).
The manual indicates that fishwiring is required (7/16"-14 carriage bolts and SP7 spacers are fishwired through enlarged access holes and out the drilled holes), but does not provide detailed instructions on the fishwire technique itself. Contact Curt technical support at 1-877-287-8634 for detailed guidance.
The manual specifies that the rear-most 7/16" holes are loosely secured with flange nuts in Step 4, before the M8 bolts securing the exhaust bracket are installed. All fasteners are then torqued in Step 5: M8 hardware to 23 ft-lbs and 7/16" hardware to 70 ft-lbs. The manual does not specify a particular sequence for final torquing.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a maintenance interval.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation.
