A CURT trailer hitch is the key to pursuing your passions, whether you're taking the family boat out for an afternoon on the water or packing up the mountain bikes for a day on the trails. This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Kia Cadenza (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities

Yes, CURT part number 12118 is designed for 2014-present Kia Cadenza sedans. Confirm your vehicle matches this model and year range before purchasing.
CURT hitch 12118 is designed for use with ballmount #45520 (D-20) or Euro ballmounts #45552 (2" ball) or #45551 (1 7/8" ball). These are sold separately.
CURT hitch 12118 has a gross load capacity of 3500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Required tools are: torque wrench, ratchet, 9/16" and 3/4" sockets, 10mm and 13mm sockets, and a rotary tool. Safety glasses should be worn at all times during installation.
Yes. The exhaust must be lowered as the first installation step. Remove four screws with a 10mm socket connecting the exhaust tip to the fascia, disconnect two rubber isolators at the rear of the muffler and one at the vehicle center, then unbolt the exhaust hanger brackets by removing two M8 nuts from each bracket.
Yes. The rear frame hole must be enlarged to 3/4" using a rotary tool. This is a permanent modification to the vehicle frame. A felt cover on the frame must be removed first to expose the hole.
Fishwire is a 1/2" cable used to route hardware through the frame. After enlarging the rear frame hole to 3/4", the fishwire 1/2" carriage bolt hardware is reversed (threaded back through) into the hole on both sides of the frame. This allows the hitch to be secured to the frame without welding.
Torque M8 hardware to 25 ft-lb, 3/8" hardware to 30 ft-lb, and 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lb. These fasteners should be loosely secured first, then tightened to final torque values in the specified order.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person can improve the quality and reduce installation time.
The kit includes: two 1/2"-13 UNC carriage bolts (1-1/4" grade 8), two 1/2"-13 UNC serrated flange nuts, two 1/2" fishwire cables, two 0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square spacers, one 3/8"-16 UNC u-bolt (2-1/4"), two 3/8"-16 UNC hex nuts, and two 3/8" conical washers. Existing M8 hardware on the exhaust hanger brackets is reused.
CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads. These straps must be used to properly support any load that is not a traditional trailer. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This is a critical ongoing maintenance task to ensure safe operation.
First, loosely secure the hitch with the 1/2" hardware and loosely secure the tow loop attachment with 3/8" u-bolt, conical washers, and 3/8" nuts. Then torque in this order: M8 hardware to 25 ft-lb, 3/8" hardware to 30 ft-lb, and 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lb.
After the hitch is secured, raise the exhaust back into position by connecting the two rubber isolators on the muffler to the hanger studs on the hitch, and reconnect the center isolator. Then reconnect the exhaust tips that were removed in step 1 by reinstalling the four screws with a 10mm socket.
A weight-carrying hitch is designed to carry the tongue weight of a trailer (up to 350 lbs for this model) and support the trailer weight (up to 3500 lbs). The hitch distributes the load through the vehicle's frame and suspension.
