Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 8,000 lbs. GTW and 800 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 12,000 lbs. WD and 1,200 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities

Yes, CURT 13187 is designed for Chevrolet / GMC 2500 / 3500 with a long box. If your truck has a factory light duty bumper mount hitch (2015 and newer non-hitch equipped models), it must be removed before installation.
No. The manual states "NO DRILLING REQUIRED" for this hitch installation.
You will need: ratchet, torque wrench, 10" extension, 10mm socket, 21mm socket, and 3/4" socket.
Yes. The manual recommends lowering the spare tire for ease of installation. You will raise it back into position after installation is complete.
Torque all M14 fasteners to 126 ft-lbs and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 ft-lbs.
The manual does not provide filled-in capacity values. Contact CURT Technical Support at 1-877-287-8634 for the specific gross load capacity for weight-carrying and weight-distribution modes, and do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound.
The hitch weight is 40 lbs.
The kit includes: 2× 1/2-13 UNC 1-3/4" carriage bolts (10-10272), 2× .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP1), 2× M14x2 45mm hex head cap screws (10-10449), 4× M14x2 40mm hex head cap screws (10-10404), 6× 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nuts (20-00062), 4× 1/2-13 UNC 1-1/4" carriage bolts (10-10278), 2× 9/16" S-con washers (30-00164), and 2× .250" strap plates (13187-ST).
Yes, but you must remove the factory light duty bumper mount hitch first. This applies to 2015 and newer non-hitch equipped vehicles. Remove the (2) M8 bolts connecting the center hitch tabs to the bumper, remove and retain the (4) M14 bolts securing the hitch to the side of the frame rails, remove the (2) M14 bolts securing the rear of the hitch to the weldnuts in the bottom of the frame rails, and remove the hitch. Return the M8 bolts and hitch to the owner. You will reuse the (4) M14 bolts from the side of the frame rails during CURT installation.
Weldnut cleaning may be necessary. The manual references a weldnut cleaning diagram but does not provide detailed cleaning instructions. Ensure the weldnuts in the vehicle frame are clean before locating the hitch holes over them.
1. Lower the spare tire. 2. If applicable (2015+ non-hitch vehicles), remove the factory light duty bumper mount hitch. 3. Raise the CURT hitch into position, aligning holes with weldnuts in the vehicle frame. 4. Install M14 bolts and conical toothed washers through the hitch into the weldnuts in the bottom of the frame. 5. Install 1/2" carriage bolts, spacers, and nuts. 6. Install the (2) M14 bolts removed in step 2 into the side of the frame rail, and install (2) carriage bolts through each strap plate into the side plate. 7. Yes. If removing a factory hitch, retain the hardware for the CURT hitch install. Specifically, the (4) M14 bolts that secure the factory hitch to the side of the frame rails are removed and reused during CURT installation in Step 6.
All M14 fasteners must be torqued to 126 ft-lbs.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs.
M14 bolts with conical toothed washers are installed through the hitch into weldnuts in the bottom of the vehicle frame.
Two types of fasteners attach to the side of the frame rail: (2) M14 bolts (removed from the factory hitch in Step 2b and reinstalled in Step 6), and (2) carriage bolts through each strap plate (also installed in Step 6).
The (2) .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP1) are installed with the 1/2" carriage bolts and nuts as part of the hitch assembly.
