A CURT trailer hitch is the key to pursuing your passions, whether you're taking the family boat out for an afternoon on the water or packing up the mountain bikes for a day on the trails. This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Jeep Renegade (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

Yes, the hitch can be installed on vehicles with a factory tow hook. However, the installation procedure differs: instead of removing rubber plugs and enlarging holes, you will remove M14 bolts using a 21mm socket and skip directly to step 5. The factory M14 hardware must then be torqued to 135 ft.-lbs. instead of the standard 110 ft.-lbs. for 1/2" hardware.
The manual specifies a maximum trailer weight of 3500 lbs. and tongue weight of 350 lbs. when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Verify your Jeep Renegade's towing limits in your owner's manual.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be attached to this hitch, but they must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information on the 18050 straps.
Required tools are: 3/4" ratchet, 21 mm socket, 8" socket extension, die grinder, torque wrench, utility knife, universal joint socket, offset screwdriver, and 1.125" socket. A die grinder is essential because hole enlargement is required on each frame rail to allow carriage bolts and spacers to be inserted.
The hitch includes: (4) carriage bolts 1/2-13 x 1 1/2, (4) hex flange nuts HFN 1213, (4) pieces of 1/2" fishwire, and (4) square hole spacers CM-SP10 (.250 x 1.00 x 2.50"). All fasteners are used to mount the hitch to the frame rails.

No drilling is required. However, hole enlargement is required: you must use a die grinder to enlarge the rearmost hole on each frame rail to allow the carriage bolts and spacers to be inserted into the frame rail. This is a permanent modification to the frame.
Yes. In step 3, clear away caulk as necessary near mounting holes on both sides using a utility knife. This ensures the hitch can be properly positioned against the frame rails.
Fishwire is used to thread the carriage bolts and spacers into the frame rail holes before the hitch is raised into position. In step 4, you fishwire (1) 1/2" carriage bolt and (1) CM-SP10 spacer into the forwardmost holes on the outside of each frame rail, and reverse fishwire (1) 1/2" carriage bolt and (1) CM-SP10 into the rearmost hole on the bottom of each frame rail. The wires are kept attached until the hitch is raised into position in step 5, then removed and replaced with hex flange nuts.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove rubber plugs from frame rails (or M14 bolts if factory tow hook is present). (2) Enlarge the rearmost hole on each frame rail with a die grinder. (3) Clear away caulk near mounting holes. (4) Fishwire carriage bolts and spacers into the forwardmost and rearmost holes, leaving fasteners in the frame. (5) Raise the hitch into position, threading fishwires through the mounting holes, then remove fishwire and loosely install hex flange nuts. (6) Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft.-lbs. (or factory M14 hardware to 135 ft.-lbs. if applicable).
All 1/2" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 110 ft.-lbs. If your vehicle has a factory tow hook, the factory M14 hardware must be torqued to 135 ft.-lbs. instead. Use a torque wrench to achieve the correct specification.
