Whatever the next checkpoint is on your adventure -- whether it's getting your bike on the trail before sunrise or making it to the campground before dark -- CURT class 2 hitches let you Bring It with confidence. These receiver hitches are made to handle most light-duty towing applications and offer a custom fit for your vehicle. Typically used on full-size cars, crossovers, compact SUVs, minivans or even compact pickup trucks, a CURT class 2 trailer hitch complements the design of smaller vehicles. This particular class 2 hitch is made to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Chrysler Pacifica (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It offers a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. Class 2 trailer hitches can typically be used to tow a variety of lightweight trailers, such as a small utility trailer, small fishing boat trailer or popup camper (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). They are also perfect for adding cargo space to your vehicle with a bike rack or cargo carrier. This class 2 hitch features a 1-1/4" receiver tube to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch-mounted accessory. For safety, it is tested in accordance with SAE J684. A custom trailer hitch design requires extra care, and as such, CURT class 2 hitches are engineered using real vehicles and hands-on research. We use high-strength steel, robotic welding and rigorous testing to produce hitches that are built to fit your lifestyle. To ensure that each hitch will be a reliable extension of your vehicle, we also finish our hitches in a co-curing of liquid A-coat and black powder coat, giving them long-lasting rust and wear resistance.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Toyota Camry (except SE), Avalon and Venza (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, CURT part number 12180 is designed for Chrysler Pacifica models from 2017 to present. It is a weight-carrying receiver hitch with a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight.
The CURT 12180 has a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The CURT 12180 is designed for use with ball mount #45521. Euro mount options are also available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball).
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 6" socket extension, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 3/4" socket, universal joint socket, screwdriver, masking tape, aviation shears, die grinder, and safety glasses.
Yes, the underbody panel must be removed. You will locate and remove 5 screws with an 8mm socket, 7 nuts with a 10mm socket, 2 bolts with a 10mm socket, and 2 plastic screws with a screwdriver. If no underbody panel is present, skip this step and proceed to lowering the exhaust.
Yes, trimming is required. You must trim the underbody panel to a 0.5" x 10" slot using aviation shears. You must also trim the heat shield to a 5" x 13" section using aviation shears. On hybrid models only, you must enlarge holes on the driver side frame rail using a die grinder.
Yes, the exhaust must be lowered by removing 2 rubber isolators before installation. The manual references a Rubber Isolator Removal Diagram for this procedure.
Yes, the heat shield must be temporarily removed. You will remove 2 plastic nuts with a 10mm socket, remove the heat shield, mark and trim a 5" x 13" section with aviation shears, then reinstall with 1 nut using a 10mm socket. If no underbody panel is present, remove 4 plastic nuts instead, trim the panel, and reinstall with 3 plastic nuts.
Yes. On hybrid models only, you must temporarily remove the emissions canister on the driver side frame rail using a 10mm socket to remove 2 bolts, then reinstall using provided M6 hardware. You must also enlarge holes on the driver side frame rail using a die grinder as shown in the Hole Enlargement Diagram.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. This is the final torque value applied after the hitch is raised into position and all fasteners are loosely fastened.
The kit includes: 5 bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2", grade 8, part 10-10287), 5 square hole spacers 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.50" (CM-SP10), 5 washers 1/2" (30-00149), 5 pieces of 1/2" fishwire, 1 tap bolt (10-10513), 1 hex bolt 1/4-20 x 1.00 (10-10424), 1 hex nut (20-00192), and 5 hex nuts 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 (20-00171).
Fishwire is used to thread carriage bolts and spacers through the frame rail access holes before the hitch is raised into position. The fishwires help align the bolts with the hitch holes, making installation easier. After alignment, the fishwires are removed and replaced with hex nuts.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this product must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is a critical ongoing maintenance requirement.
If an electrical ground is present on the driver side frame rail, it must be relocated using the provided 1/4" hardware. Ensure the area is free of rust, dirt, and paint before reinstalling.
Raise the hitch into position starting with the passenger side. Run the fishwires through the holes on the hitch to help align bolts with hitch holes. Remove the fishwires and loosely fasten the hex nuts before final torquing.
Reinstall the underbody panel as the final step, after torquing all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. Follow steps 1 and 2 in reverse order to reinstall.

Yes, the Curt 56079 is designed for Toyota Camry, including Camry hybrid models. It is also compatible with Toyota Avalon and Toyota Venza. The harness connects to the vehicle's existing taillight wiring connectors behind the rear trim panels.
Yes, the Curt 56079 is compatible with Toyota Venza. Installation on the Venza requires removal of the rubber mat, trunk floor panels, rear scuff panel and trays to access the taillight wiring connectors.
The Curt 56079 has a signal circuit rating of 3.0 amps per side and a tail/running circuit rating of 6.0 amps total. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
You will need a Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, and panel trim removal tool. If you need to drill a pilot hole for the ground screw, you will also need a drill with a 3/32" bit.
The Curt 56079 includes a screw and ring terminal for the ground connection, double-sided tape for mounting the converter box, cable ties for securing loose wires, and a 4-flat dust cover for the connector.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Consult your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for guidance on safe electrical work on your specific model.
Open the tailgate and remove the floor coverings. Remove the two plastic fasteners securing the rear scuff panel by pushing on the center of each fastener while pulling. Remove the scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back.
Open the vehicle tailgate. Remove the rubber mat, trunk floor panels, rear scuff panel and trays. Remove the cargo loops on both sides of the vehicle so the trim panels can be carefully pulled away from the vehicle.
Pull back on the rear trim panel to locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors on the driver side, making sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The area should be clean and flat to ensure proper adhesion.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable existing point is available, you may drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area should be free of rust, dirt and paint. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
The Curt 56079 uses yellow and green wires to connect to the taillight connectors (yellow on driver side, green on passenger side), a white ground wire that connects to a grounding point using a ring terminal and screw, and a black power wire that routes from the vehicle battery. Refer to the included CME-PCL-INS sheet for battery power wire routing details.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Do not exceed this rating, as exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness will function properly.
Reinstall all items removed during installation. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties. Test for proper function using a test light or by connecting a properly wired trailer.
