Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the BMW X2 (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.
Installation requires temporary removal of bumper and fascia
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

The hitch is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be carried, but they must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.

You must temporarily remove the rear bumper and rear fascia. This includes removing the rear fascia fasteners, wheel well trim rivets, tail lights and their electrical harnesses, and the rear bumper beam. All components are reinstalled after the hitch is secured.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 8-inch socket extension, 8mm/10mm/18mm sockets, pry tool, center punch, plastic rivet gun, screwdriver (flathead), and safety glasses. Proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.

Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
All M12 hardware must be torqued to 86 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
Follow this sequence: (1) Remove 6 fasteners from the bottom of the rear fascia using 8mm socket; (2) Remove 2 fasteners from each wheel well using 8mm socket; (3) Remove 3 rivets along wheel well trim above each rear tire using a punch and pry tool; (4) Remove 2 fasteners from each side of rear fascia behind wheel well trim using 8mm socket; (5) Remove plastic covers from tail lights and remove 1 fastener on each side with a flathead screwdriver; (6) Remove 2 bolts from each tail light using 10mm socket and unclip electrical harnesses; (7) Remove fastener behind tail light cover using 8mm socket and unclip rear fascia attachments.
Remove 2 nuts on each side of the rear bumper beam using an 18mm socket. If a hands-free lift gate is present, also remove 2 fasteners using an 8mm socket and unclip it from the vehicle before removing the bumper beam.
Raise the hitch into position using the existing vehicle studs to align it properly. Reinstall the rear bumper beam over the hitch and secure it using the existing vehicle hardware. Then torque all M12 hardware to 86 ft-lbs.
Yes, if electrical sensors are present on the rear fascia, they must be unplugged before removing the fascia from the vehicle.
Reinstall all vehicle components removed in steps 1-7 in reverse order. This means reinstalling the rear fascia, tail lights with electrical harnesses, wheel well trim rivets, and all fasteners in the opposite sequence from removal.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps ensure safe operation and maintains the warranty.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
