However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the BMW X2 (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
Installation requires temporary removal of bumper and fascia
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

The CURT 11530 is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Always verify your BMW X2's factory towing limits before towing.
No. All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for information on the 18050 straps.
The CURT 11530 is designed for use with ball mount 45521. Two ball options are available: 45571 (1 7/8" ball) and 45572 (2" ball). Both are used with the 45521 mount. Verify the correct ball size for your trailer coupler before purchasing.
No. The CURT 11530 installation requires no drilling. The hitch uses existing vehicle studs and hardware for attachment to the BMW X2 frame.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 8-inch socket extension, 8mm/10mm/18mm sockets, pry tool, center punch, plastic rivet gun, flathead screwdriver, and safety glasses. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person will help, particularly when removing and reinstalling the rear bumper beam and fascia components.
Installation is rated as challenging difficulty. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, CURT recommends contacting an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance. For help, call CURT technical support at 877-287-8634.
Yes. Installation requires temporarily removing the rear bumper and rear fascia. The rear bumper beam is removed by taking out 2 nuts on each side using an 18mm socket. The hitch is then positioned using vehicle studs, and the rear bumper is reinstalled over the hitch using existing vehicle hardware.
Remove (6) fasteners from the bottom of the rear fascia using an 8mm socket, (2) fasteners from each rear wheel well using an 8mm socket, (2) fasteners from each side of the rear fascia behind wheel well trim using an 8mm socket, and (1) fastener behind each tail light cover using an 8mm socket. Also remove (3) rivets along wheel well trim above each rear tire using a center punch and pry tool.
Yes. Open the rear hatch and remove the plastic cover inside each tail light. Remove (1) fastener on each side using a flathead screwdriver. Then remove (2) bolts from each tail light using a 10mm socket. Carefully remove each tail light and unclip the electrical harness. This is necessary to access and remove the rear fascia.
If electrical sensors are present on the rear fascia, unplug them before removing the fascia. Reconnect them when reinstalling the fascia in reverse order at the end of installation.
If a hands-free lift gate is present, remove (2) fasteners using an 8mm socket and unclip it from the vehicle before removing the rear bumper beam. This must be done as part of step 7 of the installation.
All M12 hardware must be torqued to 86 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness. This is performed after the rear bumper beam is reinstalled over the hitch.
Six M6 black rivets (part number 10-10401) are included. These replace the (3) rivets removed from the wheel well trim above each rear tire during installation. Use the plastic rivet gun to reinstall them when reassembling the vehicle components.
After installation, verify that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Periodically check the hitch during ownership to ensure all fasteners remain tight and structural integrity is maintained. This ongoing inspection helps ensure safe towing operation.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce time required. If you are hesitant to undertake this task, contact an authorized CURT installer.
