This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Subaru Crosstrek (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

Yes. You must use a die grinder to enlarge the access holes in both frame rails before installing the hitch. The manual does not specify the exact enlarged hole diameter or depth.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This is the final torque value applied after the hitch is positioned and all nuts are loosely installed.
The hitch includes: (4) 1/2-13 x 1 1/2" carriage bolts, (4) .250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP6), (2) .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" round hole spacers (CM-SP16), (4) hex flange nuts (HFN 1213), and (4) 1/2" fishwires.
Remove (2) rubber plugs from each frame rail and return them to the vehicle owner. Leave the center plugs in the frame.
Fishwire is used to guide the carriage bolts and spacers through the enlarged access holes. Enlarge the access holes, then fishwire (2) 1/2" carriage bolts and CM-SP6 spacers into position. Reverse fishwire the remaining (2) carriage bolts and CM-SP6 spacers into the access hole. Leave the fishwires attached until step 3, when you remove them and loosely install the hex flange nuts.
Raise the hitch into position using CM-SP16 spacers to level the hitch as necessary. The spacers are .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" and are used to adjust the hitch height to achieve proper leveling.
No. After removing the fishwires and positioning the hitch, loosely install the (4) 1/2" hex flange nuts. Only after the hitch is properly positioned should you torque all fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. Be careful not to push the bolts into the frame during installation.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT stabilizing straps #18050. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information.
