They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Lexus RX350 and RX450h (excludes F Sport; see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 4,000 lbs. WD and 525 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Lexus RX Series (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. The CURT 13515 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 525 lbs. For weight distribution towing, the capacity is 4,000 lbs GTW with 525 lbs tongue weight. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The CURT 13515 is designed for both hybrid and non-hybrid models, but the installation procedure differs between them. Hybrid models require removal of the underbody panel and lowering of the exhaust; non-hybrid models skip these steps. Refer to the installation steps for your specific model type.
Required tools: ratchet, reciprocating saw or hacksaw, sockets (10mm, 12mm, 17mm, 19mm), socket extension, flathead screwdriver, torque wrench, tape, and marker. No drilling is required. The CURT 13515 uses existing vehicle frame weldnuts for mounting. However, trimming of the underbody panel and fascia is required using a reciprocating saw or hacksaw.
For non-hybrid models, a 3" × 3" area of the lower fascia must be trimmed at the center line of the bottom edge using a reciprocating saw or hacksaw. For hybrid models, the underbody panel must be removed and both underbody panels trimmed according to the trim diagram (7-1/2" × 8" and 4" areas). Do not cut on the sensor bracket.
All M12 bolts must be torqued to 79 ft-lbs.
All M8 bolts on hybrid models (used to secure the exhaust bracket) must be torqued to 16 ft-lbs.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Use caution when trimming lower fascia and underbody panels. Do not cut on the sensor bracket. After installation, perform periodic inspection to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
The CURT 13515 package includes: 1 trailer hitch, 4 hex bolts (M12 × 1.25"), 2 hex nuts (M8 × 1.25"), 2 conical-toothed washers (3/8"), and 4 conical-toothed washers (1/2").
The manual notes that model year 2021 and later vehicles may have sensor bracket tabs that must be removed before installation. For model year 2021 and earlier, this step is not required. Consult the manual or contact CURT product support at 877-287-8634 to confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle.
No. Underbody panel removal is required only for hybrid models. Non-hybrid models skip this step and proceed directly to removing the tie-down bracket. For hybrid models, the underbody panel is secured by 14 fasteners (10mm socket) and one push fastener in the wheel well trim.
The tie-down bracket is located on the passenger side and is secured by two bolts (17mm socket). It must be removed during installation and returned to the vehicle owner. The hitch does not use this bracket.
The vehicle weldnuts are located behind plastic caps on the driver-side frame rail. Remove the two rear-most plastic caps using a flathead screwdriver to gain access to the existing vehicle weldnuts. Clean any debris from the weldnuts using lubricant, compressed air, or a wire brush, taking care not to damage the threads.
Spray lubricant or compressed air into the weldnut hole to remove debris. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
The hitch is secured using the existing vehicle weldnuts on both sides, plus two M12 bolts and 1/2" conical washers on each side. The conical washers must be oriented correctly with the toothed side facing the frame. All M12 hardware must be torqued to 79 ft-lbs.

For hybrid models: (1) Remove the underbody panel (14 fasteners, 10mm socket); (2) Remove the tie-down bracket (2 bolts, 17mm socket); (3) Remove plastic caps on driver-side frame rail (flathead screwdriver); (4) Remove sensor bracket tabs if present (model year 2021+); (5) Trim 3" × 3" fascia area; (6) Lower the exhaust (2 M8 bolts, 12mm socket); (7) Raise and secure hitch with weldnuts, M12 bolts, and 1/2" conical washers; (8) Torque M12 hardware to 79 ft-lbs; (9) Raise exhaust and secure with M8 bolts, 3/8" conical washers, and M8 nuts; (10) Torque M8 hardware to 16 ft-lbs; (11) Trim underbody panels; (12) Reinstall underbody panel.

Yes. On hybrid models, the exhaust must be lowered by removing two M8 bolts from the bracket on the passenger side (12mm socket) before raising the hitch. After the hitch is secured, the exhaust is raised back into position and secured with the same M8 bolts, 3/8" conical washers, and M8 hex nuts, then torqued to 16 ft-lbs.
Slight bending or modification to the exhaust heat shield may be needed to avoid contact with the hitch. This should be assessed during installation.
Slide the rear part of the panel into place first to ease reinstallation. Secure using all fourteen fasteners that were removed during the initial removal step. Use a 10mm socket.
The hitch uses: 4 hex bolts (M12 × 1.25"), 2 hex nuts (M8 × 1.25"), 2 conical-toothed washers (3/8"), and 4 conical-toothed washers (1/2"). M12 bolts are torqued to 79 ft-lbs; M8 bolts are torqued to 16 ft-lbs (hybrid models only).

Mount the lighting module on a flat, clean surface either behind the threshold or in the lower passenger's side trim panel area. Use the provided double-sided tape or zip ties to secure it in an out-of-the-way location where it will not interfere with vehicle operation or occupants.
Insert the lighting module's white 10-pin towing connector into the vehicle's mating harness (located behind the passenger-side trim panel after removing the side panel mounting pins). This connector links the module to the factory trailer towing system.
The factory trailer towing harness connector is located underneath the vehicle on the driver's side. It has a protective plug that must be carefully removed before inserting the trailer tow harness. Take care not to damage the connector mounting tabs when removing the protective plug.
Place the protective connector cap in the glove box or console for storage. Do not discard it. You may need it in the future if the connector is disconnected.
Route the 4-way flat connector along the rear bumper fascia and over to the center of the vehicle. Secure the 4-way connector into a bracket (not included with the product). Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent movement and damage.

Signal circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side. Tail and running circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Use 12 GA (gauge) wire or larger for the power connection from the converter to the vehicle battery. Route this wire to the vehicle battery location, taking care to avoid pinch points and hot or rotating components.
The powered converter uses the following wire colors: Green for right turn signal, Red for brake, Yellow for left turn signal, and Brown for taillight. If using the converter as a powered module for a two-wire system, the red brake wire must be grounded.
Route the 12 GA black power wire to the positive (+) battery terminal using a ring terminal. The negative battery cable must be disconnected before wiring the power wire. Disconnect the negative battery cable before wiring the power wire. Ensure the negative battery cable is isolated to protect it from creating an electrical system ground, as grounding it to a metal item could damage the vehicle's electrical system.
