Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Tesla Model Y (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

The CURT 13598 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 525 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
No, the CURT 13598 requires no drilling.
Installation requires removal of the taillights, underbody panel, bumper cover, and aluminum bumper beam. The wheel well liners must also be loosened to access fasteners behind them.
The sensor bar above the aluminum bumper must be temporarily loosened by removing four bolts during installation. The manual does not specify whether the sensor bar is permanently relocated, reinstalled in its original position, or if it remains functional after hitch installation.
Required tools: ratchet, 6" socket extension, torque wrench, T-25 Torx bit, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 15mm socket, flathead screwdriver, panel trim removal tool, and safety glasses. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
Yes, a torque wrench is required. All hitch fasteners must be torqued to 42 ft-lbs.
The CURT 13598 is rated as a Difficult installation based on time and effort involved. Installation difficulty may vary depending on installer expertise, vehicle condition, and availability of proper tools and equipment. The manual does not explicitly recommend professional installation.
Remove the large rearmost underbody panel using a 10mm socket and T-25 Torx bit to remove eleven screws. Then use a screwdriver to remove three plastic push fasteners along the outer edges and four push fasteners along the lower edge of the wheel well liner.
Use a plastic trim pry tool to remove two clips from the lower end and four clips along the side of the wheel well trim. Repeat on both sides of the vehicle. Then remove the plastic fastener in the middle of the liner by hand, and remove one bolt per side behind the wheel well liner with a 10mm socket.
Open the rear hatch and carefully pry between the trunk panel and rubber trim to remove the trunk panels. This provides access to the taillight wiring connector and fasteners. Remove the two nuts per taillight with a 10mm socket and unclip the taillight wiring for each taillight.
Remove the one bolt under each taillight opening that attach to the bumper cover with a 10mm socket. Working from the wheel well towards the center of the bumper, carefully unclip the edge of the bumper cover using a plastic pry tool if necessary. Reach behind the passenger side of the cover and unclip any wiring for sensors. Place the bumper cover in a safe location to prevent damage.
Remove the aluminum bumper beam from the vehicle by removing six flange nuts with a 15mm socket. Return the bumper beam to the vehicle owner. These same nuts are then reused to install the hitch.
Raise the hitch into position and loosely install the factory nuts (the six flange nuts removed from the bumper beam in the previous step) before torquing.
All hitch fasteners must be torqued to 42 ft-lbs.
The six flange nuts removed from the aluminum bumper beam are reused to install the hitch. These nuts are loosely installed in Step 9 and then torqued to 42 ft-lbs in Step 10.
Reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly, making sure to check that all wiring is assembled and functioning properly. This includes reinstalling the bumper cover, taillights, wheel well liners, and underbody panel.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
