Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 8,000 lbs. GTW and 800 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 12,000 lbs. WD and 1,200 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

The CURT 13447 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 8,000 lbs. and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 800 lbs. If using weight distribution, the weight distribution (WD) capacity is 12,000 lbs. with a WD tongue weight (WDTW) of 1,200 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
No. The CURT 13447 installation requires no drilling. The hitch uses existing frame rail mounting holes and access holes on the vehicle.
You will need: a ratchet, 13mm socket, torque wrench, 21mm socket, 10" socket extension, and 3/4" socket. For a complete tools reference guide, visit curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes: 2 straps, 2 carriage bolts 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" (grade 8), 6 carriage bolts 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" (grade 8), 4 hex bolts M14-2 x 45mm (CL 10.9), 8 serrated-flange nuts 1/2"-13, 4 conical-toothed washers 9/16", 4 spacers 1/4" x 1" x 3", and 2 fishwire tools 1/2".
Yes. Step 1 requires you to unhook the spare tire safety strap and lower the spare tire to access the frame rail bolts. The manual instructs you to reinstall the spare tire in Step 4 after torquing all hardware.
Remove two bumper bolts from the bottom of each frame rail (four bolts total) and one heat shield bolt from the bottom of the passenger-side frame rail. If the vehicle does not have forward-most bolts, you will use the fishwire technique to thread the carriage bolts and spacers into the holes instead.
The fishwire tool guides bolts and spacers through the frame rail mounting holes and access holes, preventing loss of hardware inside the frame. Insert the coiled end of the fishwire through the hitch mounting hole and out the access hole, pass the coiled end through the spacer, thread the bolt into the coil, kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt, then pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame and out the mounting hole.
1. Unhook and lower the spare tire, remove bumper and heat shield bolts, and fishwire the forward carriage bolts and spacers into the frame rails. 2. Fishwire a 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" carriage bolt and 1/4" spacer into the rearmost hole on each frame rail. 3. Raise the hitch into position and secure it with M14 hex bolts, conical-toothed washers, and 1/2" serrated-flange nuts. 4. Attach the straps to the side plates using 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" carriage bolts and serrated-flange nuts, then secure the straps to the frame rails using the remaining hardware. 5. Torque all hardware and reinstall the spare tire.
The conical-toothed washer should be placed between the hex bolt and the hitch side plate, with the toothed side facing the hitch. Refer to the conical-toothed washer orientation diagram in Step 2.
Torque all M14 hardware to 126 ft-lbs. and all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness and prevent damage to the product or vehicle.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure. The manual does not specify inspection intervals.
The manual does not specify vehicle makes, models, or years. Contact CURT product support at 877.287.8634 or visit curtmfg.com to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
