Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Kia Niro and Niro EV (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Toyota Venza (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). Insert the custom wiring harness end with red and brown wires between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Yes. You must remove the grommet behind the taillight where the vehicle's taillight wiring passes from inside the cabin to the taillight. Cut a slit large enough to route the new custom wiring end through. After routing the wires, reseat the grommet and use the provided sealant to seal the cut in the grommet and around all wires.
You may need to drill a 3/32" hole if a suitable existing hole is not available. The white ground wire ring terminal attaches to the vehicle body using the screw provided. Drill only if necessary.
The wiring harness uses the following colors: Green for right turn signal, Red for brake, Yellow for left turn signal, and Brown for taillight. The converter also has a black power wire that connects to the vehicle battery positive terminal and a white ground wire that connects to the vehicle body.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. The kit includes a fuse holder with a 10-amp fuse. Install the fuse after all other steps are complete. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire.

Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties. When passing the power wire through sheet metal, use an existing grommet, add a grommet, or use silicone to protect the wire from sharp edges.
A ring terminal is used for the battery connection. The ring terminal of the black power wire attaches to the positive battery terminal. The white ground wire ring terminal attaches to the vehicle body using the screw provided.
The converter system is designed for use only on 12-volt negative ground electrical systems. It is not compatible with positive ground systems or other voltage configurations.

On gas models, yes. Lower the canister on the driver side and the exhaust by removing two nuts and one bolt with a 13mm socket, and unhook the two muffler hangers. Support both components during hitch installation, then reinstall and rehook after.
Yes. Trim the bumper cover tab off in the center of the vehicle. The underbody panel is also trimmed as shown in the manual before reinstallation.

Yes. On some models there will be a gap between the side plates and frame. Use the supplied spacers as needed between the frame and side plates to fill the gap. Two spacers are included in the package.
The conical toothed washers must be oriented with the toothed side facing the vehicle frame. The assembly diagram on page 2 shows the correct orientation, with the washer positioned between the hex bolt and the hitch side plate.
Leave them loose initially. In Step 4, loosely install the supplied hex head cap screws and conical tooth washers. Only after raising the hitch into position and ensuring proper alignment should you torque all 10mm fasteners to 48 ft-lbs in Step 5.
