Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Kia Niro and Niro EV (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Kia Niro (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. Yes. You must remove the underbody panel by removing seven push pins with a screwdriver, six nuts with a 10mm socket, and loosening two plastic zip nuts in the center with a 15mm socket. The panel is then trimmed and reinstalled after hitch installation.
On gas models, yes. Lower the canister on the driver side and the exhaust by removing two nuts and one bolt with a 13mm socket, and unhook the two muffler hangers. Support both components during hitch installation, then reinstall and rehook after.

Yes. On some models there will be a gap between the side plates and frame. Use the supplied spacers as needed between the frame and side plates to fill the gap. Two spacers are included in the package.
The conical toothed washers must be oriented with the toothed side facing the vehicle frame. The assembly diagram on page 2 shows the correct orientation, with the washer positioned between the hex bolt and the hitch side plate.
Leave them loose initially. In Step 4, loosely install the supplied hex head cap screws and conical tooth washers. Only after raising the hitch into position and ensuring proper alignment should you torque all 10mm fasteners to 48 ft-lbs in Step 5.

The harness includes: custom wiring harness with yellow and green wire ends, white ground wire with ring terminal, provided screw for grounding, black converter box with double-sided tape, 4-flat connector with dust cover, and cable ties for securing loose wires.
You must remove: all trunk floor coverings and storage trays, the rear scuff panel (secured by Phillips screws), the lower interior side trim panel fasteners, and the upper side trim panel (using a panel trim removal tool). The taillight wiring harness connectors are located behind the interior side panel, wrapped in foam tape.
Remove the foam tape from the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors and separate them from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly. Once installed, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer.
When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. When in use, route it to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Locate a flat spot near the taillight wiring harness that is out of the way of the side trim panels. Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties. This helps keep the installation neat and prevents wires from interfering with trim panels or other components.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum. Exceeding this can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
