Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 600 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
CURT custom wiring connectors and harnesses are the easiest way to outfit your vehicle with a trailer wiring connection for towing. Each one is custom-fitted to work with a specific make and model. This particular 7-way RV blade socket is designed to be a custom wiring option for certain years of the Hyundai Palisade, Hyundai Santa Cruz and Kia Telluride (see application info to verify fitment). It provides a universal trailer connection for the tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, electronic trailer brakes and auxiliary power. 7-prong taillight wiring can be used as a replacement or new wiring and is typically used for towing fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers. This 7-way female outlet comes with all necessary hardware to establish a solid connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector socket clean when not in use. All CURT custom wiring connectors are made vehicle-specific for the easiest possible installation and the best fit. Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this factory tow package socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector (also called a T-connector) utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Instead of cutting, splicing and soldering into your vehicle's wiring system, the custom wiring connector uses a single OEM compatible plug and instantly provides a standard vehicle-to-trailer hitch wiring connection. To ensure long-lasting reliability, all CURT custom tconnector wiring is thoroughly tested for optimal functionality.

Part 56466 is designed for SUVs and Vans (S). The manual does not list specific vehicle makes, models, or model years. Contact Curt Manufacturing or consult a fitment database to confirm compatibility with your vehicle.
Part 56466 is a wiring harness for SUVs and vans that converts vehicle lighting signals to trailer lighting signals. It includes a custom wiring harness, a black converter box, a 7-way connector, and a fuse holder with fuse.
You will need a ratchet, 14mm socket, socket extension, panel trim removal tool, and cutting tool.
The kit includes a custom wiring harness with dust cover, a black converter box with double-sided tape for mounting, a 7-way connector, a fuse holder, and a fuse. The manual does not specify the fuse amperage or list all fasteners included.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation and reconnect it after all other steps are complete.
The installation is rated as Easy. Installation difficulty is based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on installer expertise, vehicle condition, and availability of proper tools and equipment.
The custom wiring harness is connected to the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) harness. For this product, the wiring location is S5, which is behind the driver side rear bumper. The manual shows ten possible wiring locations (S1–S10) for different vehicle types, but only S5 applies to part 56466.
1. Remove the dust cover from the custom harness, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. 2. Insert the custom wiring harness end onto the OEM harness. 3. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with the locking tabs in place. 4. Install the custom wiring harness.
Locate the plastic shroud below the driver-side rear bumper cover. Remove the three push fasteners and the two 14mm bolts (which are part of the shroud). These bolts are push nuts and should be tightened after reinstallation so they do not cause noise.
Mount the black converter box on a flat, clean surface that is out of the path of spray and debris from the rear wheels and road. Use the provided double-sided tape to adhere it. Failure to mount the box in a protected area can cause loss of warranty, product failure, overheating, and potential fire.
Install the 7-way connector in the center of the rear of the vehicle next to the hitch.
Signal circuits: 5.0 amps per side. Tail/Running circuits: 7.5 amps total.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 15-amp maximum fuse. The fuse is installed in the fuse holder on the custom wiring harness.
Install the fuse from the bag kit into the fuse holder on the custom wiring harness. The manual does not specify the fuse amperage or type.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 15-amp maximum. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire.
Once the custom wiring harness is installed, verify that the harness is functioning by attaching the 7-way connector to any vehicle with functioning trailer lights. The taillights on the tow vehicle should function along with the taillights on the towing vehicle.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections.
The CURT 13609 trailer hitch has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 4,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 600 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
The manual confirms that CURT 13609 is designed for Kia Sorento models. However, the manual does not specify which model years or body styles are supported. Contact CURT product support at 877-287-8634 or check curtmfg.com to confirm your specific vehicle year and configuration are compatible.
You will need: torque wrench, ratchet, 3" socket extension, 6" socket extension, exhaust removal tool, flathead screwdriver, 3/8" socket, 19mm socket, and 1" or larger wrench. For a complete tools reference guide, visit curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes 6 hex bolts (M12-1.25 x 40mm) and 6 conical-toothed washers (1/2"). The hitch uses existing M12 weldnuts already present in your vehicle's frame rails.
Yes. For models with a spare tire, you must loosen the spare tire carrier nut using a 3/8" socket and lower the spare tire before installation. The spare tire is reinstalled in the final step after the hitch is mounted.
Yes, for Kia Sorento models only. Remove the three lower plastic clips on the driver side near the wheel well and pull the cover straight down. If it does not come free, unscrew the two upper plastic nuts by hand until you can remove the cover. The cover is reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
Yes. You must remove the four rearmost exhaust hanger rods from the three rubber isolators and support the exhaust with a stand to prevent damage. The exhaust is reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
If additional clearance is needed between the hitch and exhaust after installation, you must remove the rearmost rubber isolator from the frame-rail exhaust hanger rod and adjust the rail exhaust hanger rod down approximately five degrees using a box end wrench. The rubber isolator is then reinstalled. This adjustment is only performed if clearance is inadequate after initial mounting.
Raise the hitch into position by sliding the passenger side of the hitch over the exhaust first. Then align the three holes on both sides of the hitch with the three weld nuts in the frame rails on both sides of the vehicle.
Loosely install three hex bolts (M12-1.25 x 40mm) and three conical-toothed washers on each side of the hitch into the hitch holes and weld nuts in the frame rails. The conical-toothed washers should be oriented with the teeth facing the frame. Do not fully tighten until all bolts are installed.
All M12 fasteners must be torqued to 60 ft-lbs.
If exhaust hanger removal pliers are not available, use a 5/8" open end wrench. Slide the wrench up to the rubber isolator, cradling the hanger rod. Place the flat edge of a pry bar between the wrench and the hanger stop or hanger rod, then rotate the pry bar toward the wrench to remove the rubber isolator. Using a lubricant or soapy water on the hanger rod and isolator helps removal.
To remove debris from weldnuts in the frame, spray lubricant or compressed air into the hole. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
After installation, inspect the hitch and exhaust to ensure there is adequate clearance between them. If additional clearance is needed, adjust the rail exhaust hanger rod down approximately five degrees using a box end wrench and reinstall the rubber isolator.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure. The manual does not specify the exact interval; consult your vehicle owner's manual or contact CURT at 877-287-8634 for recommended inspection frequency.
