They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. The kit includes six M10 x 1.25–35mm hex bolts (Class 10.9) and six 7/16" conical-toothed washers. These are the only fasteners supplied; the hitch bolts to existing vehicle frame weldnuts.
The conical-toothed washers must be oriented correctly under the hex bolts. Refer to the weldnut cleaning diagram on page 2, which shows the proper orientation of the conical-toothed washer between the hex bolt and the hitch side plate.
Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure it with all six M10 bolts and six conical-toothed washers first. Once the hitch is positioned correctly, tighten all M10 bolts to 48 ft-lbs.

Remove the two 10mm bolts holding the driver side taillight in place (Step 2). Then pull the taillight outward from the side of the vehicle (Step 3). Separate the connector from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Set the taillight aside. Repeat these steps on the passenger side.
Fish wire is a tool used to push or pull electrical wire through blind holes in the vehicle body. Insert the fish wire through the blind hole and locate it on the other side. Use tape to secure the harness to the fish wire and pull back up. If the fish wire gets hung up, you may need to push back down, wiggle it, or twist it to loosen it. Fish wire can be a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string depending on what is needed.
In Step 4, fishwire down between the vehicle body to underneath the vehicle starting from the driver side. Attach the housing with the brown wire to the fish wire and pull up to the taillight opening. Before fishwiring, ensure the connector contains both brown and red wires. Locate the vehicle taillight wiring connectors (similar to those on the custom harness). Connect the custom harness end with the brown wire, attaching the connectors between the taillight harness and the factory connectors that were separated in Step 3. Reinstall the taillight into the mount.
In Step 5, from underneath the vehicle, locate the turn function connector housings in the rear bumper cover on each side. Disconnect the black connector housing on both the right and left sides of the bumper cover. Note that connectors can be difficult to access, and removal of other components may be required for ease of installation.
In Step 6, on the driver side, locate the vehicle turn signal wiring connector. The connectors will be similar to those on the custom harness. Locate the custom harness end with the yellow wire and attach the connectors between the custom harness and the factory connectors that were separated in Step 5.

In Step 8, on the passenger side, locate the vehicle turn signal wiring connector. The connectors will be similar to those on the custom harness. Locate the custom harness end with the green wire and attach the connectors between the custom harness and the factory connectors that were separated in Step 5.
In Step 9, locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area should be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
In Step 10, locate a flat clean surface that is out of the path of spray and debris from the rear wheels and road. Always mount the module with the epoxy side down to prevent excessive water buildup and debris collection. Use the supplied 2-sided tape and/or zip ties to secure it to the vehicle. Failure to mount in a protected area can cause loss of warranty, product failure, overheating and potential damage.
In Step 12, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
In Step 13, reconnect the negative battery terminal. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Reinstall all removed items in the reverse order of disassembly to complete the installation. Once the custom harness is installed, verify that it is functioning by attaching the 4-flat to any trailer with functioning lights or use a 4-flat tester, test light, or multimeter.
The harness includes four wires: Brown (taillight/running lights), Red (brake), Yellow (left turn signal), and Green (right turn signal).
