Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Ford Country Squire, Ford Crown Victoria, Lincoln Mark VI, Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis and Mercury Marauder (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 6,000 lbs. WD and 600 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Mustang and Mercury Grand Marquis (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, drilling is required. You must drill four holes in the vehicle frame at the hitch mounting locations. The hitch is used as a template to mark hole positions. Holes required near the bumper should be drilled as close to the center of the vehicle as possible.
Yes. The 2003 & later Lincoln Town Car external dress panel beneath the vehicle must be removed for hitch installation and returned to the vehicle owner after installation is complete.
Yes. The 2003 & later Lincoln Town Car requires relocation of the passenger side exhaust hanger bracket. The bracket must be removed from the vehicle frame and rubber mount, rotated, and reattached to the hanger bracket as shown in the manual. The hanger assembly is then attached to the hitch mounting plate and exhaust after hitch installation is complete.
Remove all but a thin film of undercoating from the frame at the hitch mounting location. The attaching surfaces must be free of weld spatter and other objects that could prevent the hitch from being mounted flat to the frame.
Raise the hitch into position on the frame rails, ensuring it is centered on the vehicle. The hitch should be positioned so that the mounting plates are approximately 1" from the end of the frame. Use the hitch as a template to drill the four mounting holes.
Spacers are installed between the vehicle frame and hitch to level the hitch assembly. Wagon applications require the wedge block spacer (CM-SP38). 1984 and later Lincoln Town Car models require two spacer blocks at mounting locations near the bumper and one spacer block at the forward mounting locations. Square hole spacers (CM-SP1) are used as needed to achieve proper leveling.
Fishwire is a temporary fastening method. The carriage bolts and spacer blocks are fishwired (loosely threaded) into the mounting locations before final tightening. This allows you to position and level the hitch assembly before permanently securing all fasteners.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 lb-ft.
If required, attach the exhaust hanger bracket to the passenger side mounting plate using the hardware provided. Use washers as needed to level the exhaust hanger on the mounting plate. For 2003 & later Lincoln Town Car models, the exhaust hanger bracket must first be relocated and rotated before attachment.
The manual does not specify the gross load capacity values. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Contact Curt Manufacturing or consult your vehicle's owner manual for specific capacity ratings.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain safe operation and prevent loosening due to vibration and use.

Part 55326 is designed for Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Mustang (excluding Cobra SVT 99-04), and Mercury Grand Marquis. If your vehicle is one of these models, it will fit. For other vehicles or to confirm fitment on your specific year and model, check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer.
The Curt 55326 is a custom wiring harness designed to connect your vehicle's taillight wiring to a 4-flat trailer connector. It allows you to safely tow a trailer by routing power from your vehicle's taillights through the harness to the trailer lights.
You will need a panel trim removal tool. This tool helps you safely remove the trunk scuff panel without damaging the alignment tabs. No other specialized tools are required for the basic installation.
Open the vehicle trunk. Remove the scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back. Remove the plastic wing nuts securing the felt trunk liner. Pull back on the felt liner to locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors behind the taillight housing.
Separate the vehicle taillight connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end (yellow wire for driver side, green wire for passenger side) between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on both the driver and passenger sides.
Route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk when in use. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk.
Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties. This helps prevent tangling, damage, and ensures a neat installation.
The harness includes cable ties for securing loose wires and a 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion of the connector when not in use.
Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire. Consult your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for your specific tow vehicle lamp load rating.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. This confirms that the harness is correctly installed and all connections are secure before towing.
Yes. After routing and securing the wiring harness, reinstall all items removed during installation, including the felt trunk liner, plastic wing nuts, and scuff panel. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
The harness has a yellow wire end and a green wire end. The yellow wire end connects to the driver side taillight housing (P3 location), and the green wire end connects to the passenger side taillight housing (P4 location).
