When we came to the limits of towing capacity, we wanted to know what else was out there. What could we discover off the beaten path? So, we kept going. CURT class 5 Xtra Duty hitches begin a class of their own, beyond class 4 and beyond anything the standards dictate. They are designed for the hard road where only full-size pickup trucks, vans and SUVs dare to tread. They are capable of pulling almost any heavy-duty trailer, including toy haulers, dump trailers, logging trailers, small yacht trailers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). This particular Xtra Duty class 5 trailer hitch offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 16,000 lbs. and an extra-high tongue weight capacity of 2,400 lbs. It features a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory, such as a cargo carrier or winch mount. It is designed to be a custom-fit trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (to verify compatibility with your vehicle, see application info). For a little extra towing power and stability, this class 5 hitch can also be used in combination with a weight distributing hitch. It is rated for 17,000 lbs. WD and 2,400 lbs. WDTW. In our drive to create a more powerful hitch, CURT has not neglected the finer details. Our class 5 trailer hitches are welded with precision and go through multiple stages of cleaning to create a smooth surface that is ready to accept our co-cured finish. To protect them from corrosion, chipping and UV damage, these hitches are immersed in a liquid A-coat and then finished in a high-quality black carbide powder coat. They come with grade-8 mounting hardware for solid installation.
CURT custom wiring connectors are the easiest way to outfit your vehicle with a CURT trailer wiring connection. They are built with some of the most advanced technology in the industry, and each one is custom-fitted to work with a specific make and model. Some automotive manufacturers install a special socket on the vehicle to be used for vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Although this special socket is not equipped on every vehicle, a CURT custom wiring connector -- also called a T-connector -- utilizes the socket for simple, stress-free installation. Rather than requiring you to cut, splice and solder into your vehicle's wiring system, the custom wiring connector uses a single OEM-compatible plug and instantly provides a standard, universal vehicle-to-trailer wiring connection, typically in the form a 4-way flat. All CURT custom wiring connectors are made vehicle-specific for the easiest possible installation and the best fit. This particular plug-in connector provides a 4-way flat socket and is designed to be a custom wiring option for certain years of the Chevy Express and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 and 3500 (factory tow package required; to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware to establish a solid connection. It also comes with a dust cover to keep the connector socket clean when not in use. To ensure long-lasting reliability, all CURT custom wiring connectors are thoroughly tested for optimal functionality. Stress is the last thing you should feel when towing a trailer -- whether you're hauling your RV to that favorite camping destination, your ATVs up to the hunting grounds or your fishing boat to the new hidden hotspot. At CURT, we think your towing equipment should add to the enjoyment of your experience, not detract from it.

Yes, Curt part number 55240 is designed for Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles. The harness connects to your vehicle's factory tow harness connector, which should be located behind the rear doors.
The factory tow harness connector is located behind the rear doors of your Chevrolet Express or GMC Savana. Open the rear doors and remove the jack storage cover to access it. The connector will have connection points similar to those on the tow harness you are installing.
1. Open the rear doors and remove the jack storage cover. 2. Locate the vehicle's factory tow harness connector. 3. Insert the tow harness into the vehicle's connector, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
The locking tabs are part of the connector design that secure the tow harness to the vehicle's factory connector. When you insert the harness, push it in fully until you hear or feel the locking tabs engage. This ensures a secure, reliable connection.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame. Secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided with the harness. If no suitable existing screw is available, drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
Drilling is required only if no suitable existing grounding point (such as a screw with nut in the vehicle's frame) is available near the connector. If you must drill, make a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
Drill a 3/32" hole for the ground wire eyelet.
Before drilling, verify that miscellaneous items hidden behind or under any surface are not in the way. Drilling into hidden components can cause damage and/or personal injury.
Route the 4-flat wire to the center of the vehicle and out the rear doors when in use. When not in use, roll up the wire and store it in an out-of-the-way location in the jack storage compartment.
The harness includes an eyelet and screw for securing the white ground wire to the vehicle's frame.
