Whatever the next item is on your to-do list -- whether it's arriving at the jobsite before dawn or getting your travel trailer set up in time to see the sunset -- CURT class 4 trailer hitches offer greater towing power to let you Bring It. These custom receiver hitches are built to tackle bigger jobs and bolder adventures, all while giving you a custom fit for your vehicle. Class 4 hitches are available for a variety of makes and models, from pickup trucks and SUVs to full-size and commercial vans. This particular class 4 hitch fits certain years of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 10,000 lbs. GTW and 1,000 lbs. TW. It can also accept a weight distributing hitch, offering a maximum WD capacity of 12,000 lbs. and a WDTW of 1,200 lbs. CURT class 4 tow hitches are as much suited for work as they are for play. With their high load capacities, they are typically used for towing larger trailers, including everything from a double-axle utility trailer or livestock trailer to a full-length camper or large boat trailer (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). All CURT class 4 receiver hitches come with a 2" receiver tube opening and all the necessary hardware for a complete installation. From light-duty to heavy-duty, every CURT custom hitch is engineered to be vehicle-specific, using actual vehicles to create the optimal design. We then combine high-strength steel, precise welding and a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and durable black powder coat to provide you with a hitch you can depend on. To prove it, we test all our hitches in accordance with SAE J684 for safety.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Chevy Express and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 and 3500 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

The Curt 14090 is designed for Chevy/GMC Van Savana/Express full-size models. Confirm your vehicle matches this description before purchasing. The manual does not specify model years, so contact Curt Manufacturing or your dealer to verify fitment for your specific year and configuration.
The Curt 14090 has a gross load capacity of 10,000 lbs. trailer weight and 1,000 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch, or 12,000 lbs. trailer weight and 1,200 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-distribution hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
The hitch weight is 49 lbs.
The kit includes 6 carriage bolts (1/2"-13 UNC, 1-3/4" long, Grade 8, yellow zinc), 6 flange nuts (1/2"-13 UNC, Grade 8, yellow zinc), and 6 square hole spacers (0.250" × 1.50" × 2.00"). All fasteners are Grade 8 and yellow zinc plated.
No. The Curt 14090 uses existing frame holes and requires no drilling. The installation notes explicitly state "NO DRILLING REQUIRED."
All fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb.-ft. This applies to all six 1/2" carriage bolts and flange nuts used to attach the hitch to the frame.
1. Raise the hitch into position. 2. Using existing frame slots, insert a 1/2" carriage bolt and spacer through each frame hole into the hitch. 3. Fasten using a 1/2" flange nut. 4. Torque all fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. No drilling is required; the hitch uses existing frame holes.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a retorque interval or maintenance schedule beyond this general inspection.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The hitch itself can handle up to 10,000 lbs. (weight-carrying) or 12,000 lbs. (weight-distribution), but your vehicle may have a lower limit that must be respected.

Yes, Curt part number 55335 is designed for GMC Savana and Chevy Express vehicles. The installation involves connecting to the vehicle's existing taillight wiring harnesses on both the driver's and passenger's sides.
Yes. You must open the rear doors and remove the rear scuff panel to access the vehicle's taillight wiring harnesses on both the driver's and passenger's sides.
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness on the inside of the vehicle directly behind the driver's side taillight. Separate the vehicle's wiring harness connectors carefully, being sure not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the T-connector end with the yellow wire in-between the separated connectors.
Route the T-connector end with the green wire down to the floor and across to the passenger's side under the removed scuff panel, then up to the vehicle's taillight wiring harness on the passenger's side. Repeat the connection process on the passenger's side using the green wire, separating the connectors carefully and inserting the green wire T-connector between them.
Drilling is optional. On the driver's side, locate a suitable existing grounding point such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame. If no suitable grounding point is available, drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
If you need to drill a grounding hole, drill a 3/32" hole on the driver's side near the connector. Secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided in the kit.
Adhere the black converter box to the frame of the vehicle using the double-sided tape provided in the kit.
The kit includes: a T-connector with yellow and green wires, a white ground wire, a black converter box, double-sided tape for securing the converter box, cable ties for securing loose parts of the T-connector, an eyelet, and a screw for the optional ground wire installation.
When in use, route the 4-flat wire to the center of the vehicle and out the rear cargo doors. When not in use, roll up the wire and store it in an out-of-the-way location in the rear cargo area.
Before drilling, verify that miscellaneous items hidden behind or under any surface will not be damaged. Drilling without checking can cause damage to hidden components and/or personal injury.
When separating the vehicle's wiring harness connectors, be sure not to damage the locking tabs. The locking tabs hold the connectors together and must remain intact for proper operation.
Yes. After connecting the T-connector, secure any loose parts of the T-connector with the cable ties provided in the kit.
GMC Savana and Chevy Express.
Drilling is optional. A 3/32" hole is only needed if no suitable existing grounding point (screw with nut) is available on the vehicle's frame.
The manual does not specify required tools. A drill may be needed if you must create a 3/32" grounding hole, and basic hand tools are likely needed to separate connectors and secure fasteners.
Yes, you must open the rear doors and remove the rear scuff panel to access the taillight wiring harnesses.
