Available in 4 in. straight, 6 in. straight, 4 in. angled, and 6 in. angled varieties, the Universal Air Spring Spacers are designed to accommodate most lift kits, up to six inches. The Universal Air Spring Spacer is a lift kit component designed to increase the height of air spring suspension systems. It consists of spacer blocks that mount between the air spring and the lower bracket to raise the suspension. The kit is universal and may work with various air spring manufacturers, but compatibility must be verified at air-lift.co/liftspacer for your specific application.
Go to air-lift.co/liftspacer to determine which spacer is needed for your application. The kits are available in different lift heights: 2" (52420), 4" (52440), 4" angled (52445), 6" (52460), and 6" angled (52465). The website tool will match your vehicle to the correct kit.
Yes, this product can be used with other air spring manufacturers' kits. However, be aware that air spring mounting hardware may be different from what is supplied in this kit. Additionally, some lift kit manufacturers may make significant changes to stock components that could cause incompatibility, meaning the air spring kit may not install properly. Verify compatibility at air-lift.co/liftspacer before purchasing.
Yes. The installation instructions assume air springs have previously been installed on the vehicle. If air springs are not currently installed, the manual does not provide guidance for that scenario. Contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892 for assistance with vehicles that do not have pre-existing air springs.
The following tools are required: 9/16" socket, 9/16" wrench, ratchet, 7/32" hex wrench, and torque wrench. A torque wrench is essential because fasteners must be tightened to specific torque values during installation.
Each kit includes: 2 lift spacers (quantity and height vary by kit), 4 hex-head cap screws (3/8"-16 x 1 1/4"), 4 hex-head cap screws (3/8"-24 x 7/8"), 4 flat-head socket cap screws (3/8"-16 x 1 1/4"), 4 button-head cap screws (3/8"-16 x 1 1/4"), 4 split lock washers (3/8"), 4 nylon lock nuts (3/8"-16), and 12 flat washers (3/8"). The specific screw type used depends on your application.
1. Release all air from the air springs. 2. Remove the lower bracket from the vehicle. 3. Remove the fasteners that attach the air spring to the lower bracket. 4. For angled spacers, orient the low side with the alignment notch to best align the air spring so top and bottom mounting surfaces are as close to parallel as possible. 5. Attach the lift spacer to the lower bracket using the longer hardware supplied, torqued to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm). 6. Attach the lift spacer to the air spring using new hardware, torqued to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). 7. Reattach the lower bracket to the vehicle following the air spring kit's installation guide. 8. Cycle the suspension to verify 1/2" (13 mm) clearance all around.
Air spring fasteners must be torqued to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). This applies to the fasteners that attach the air spring to the spacer. Do not exceed this torque value.
The fasteners connecting the lift spacer to the lower bracket must be torqued to 31 lb.-ft. (42 Nm). These are the longer hardware supplied with the kit.
No. The installation of this kit does not alter the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload of the vehicle. You must check your vehicle's owner's manual and not exceed the maximum load listed for your vehicle. GVWR is the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle (including passengers and cargo) and is shown on the vehicle's Safety Compliance Certification Label. Payload is the combined maximum allowable weight of cargo and passengers, calculated as GVWR minus base curb weight.
There must be nothing within 1/2" (13 mm) of the inflated air spring and its mounting brackets throughout the full travel of the suspension once installation is complete. With air springs inflated to 40–60 PSI (2.8–4.1 bar), you must verify at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each air spring, including tires, frame, wires, hoses, shock absorbers, brake lines, brackets and cables. Check clearance by cycling the suspension through its full range of motion.
No. Air springs cannot serve as the suspension limiter in extension. A suspension travel limiting device such as a limit strap must be used to prevent over-extension of the suspension.
Brake line bracket modifications may be needed based on the lift kit manufacturer's design. Most modifications to the emergency brake line or electrical lines are addressed in the air spring kit's instruction guide; however, the lift kit manufacturer may have different modifications that may affect this installation. Refer to your specific air spring kit's installation guide for any required modifications.
After installation, cycle the suspension to make sure the air spring has 1/2" (13 mm) of clearance all the way around. With air springs inflated to 40–60 PSI (2.8–4.1 bar), verify at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from tires, frame, wires, hoses, shock absorbers, brake lines, brackets and cables. Ensure nothing can rub against the air springs throughout the full range of suspension travel.
