The Load Controller / Single is an on-board air management system for air spring kits. It includes a single analog gauge, compressor, low pressure sensor, and electrical harness. The system automatically maintains minimum air pressure in the air springs (preset to 5 PSI unless adjusted) and allows manual inflation and deflation via on/off and deflate buttons on the gauge.
The system is compatible with Air Lift LoadLifter 5000, Air Lift 1000, and Ride Control air spring applications. If adding to a LoadLifter 5000 kit, no sensor adjustment is needed. If adding to Air Lift 1000 or Ride Control kits that require a minimum of 10 PSI, the low pressure sensor must be adjusted from the factory 5 PSI setting.
Two compressor options are available: the Standard Duty Compressor (part 16060, A1) and the Heavy Duty Compressor (part 16192, A2). The kit includes one compressor. The Heavy Duty model uses a leader hose with compression fitting and filter assembly, while the Standard Duty model connects directly via barbed fitting.
The kit includes: one compressor (Standard or Heavy Duty), analog single gauge (part 25194), harness (part 26512), 25 feet of 1/4" DOT air line (part 20946), gauge mounting kit (part 25196), low pressure sensor (part 24558), grommet (part 10463), 15 amp fuse and holder, wire connectors, tee fittings, zip ties, and self-tapping screws. Yes. Air Lift recommends that you install the air spring kit first per the instructions provided with the air spring kit. The Load Controller / Single is added to an existing air spring installation.
The compressor must be mounted in a dry, protected area on the vehicle, shielded from direct splash and excessive moisture, which can damage the compressor and cause system failure. Avoid high heat environments and do not mount under the hood. The compressor can be mounted in any position—vertical, upside down, or sideways. If mounted outside the vehicle, the intake should be snorkeled inside the vehicle and oriented so moisture can drain easily. Verify the compressor harness will reach and connect to the main harness before finalizing location.
Select a convenient mounting location with a sturdy, rigid surface; the bottom edge of the dash on either side of the steering wheel is recommended. Attach the gauge pod using the black self-tapping screws provided. The gauge mounting kit (part 25196) includes hardware for bottom or top mounting. An optional dashboard mounting bracket is also included (figure 6).
Connect the color-coded wires to the gauge harness as shown in the electrical schematic (page 5). Connect the low-pressure switch assemblies as shown in figures 2 and 9. Do not connect the power wire at this time. The wiring harness also connects the gauge to the low-pressure sensor assembly, which should be located under the dash inside the vehicle and secured with provided zip ties. Screw the ground eyelet to the firewall or other electrical ground in the cab.
Before drilling any holes into the frame or floorboard, you must check for hydraulic lines, gas lines, and electrical wires that may need to be moved aside. When attaching to the floorboard, check where screws protrude through on the inside of the vehicle; it may be necessary to trim or cover the screw tops. Use a sealer around screws to prevent elements from entering the cab area.
For Standard Duty Compressor mounting, drill 13/64" holes through the frame using the mounting brackets as a template. If the mounting area does not provide enough room to use a drill to drive in the screws, you may use a 7/16" nut driver to install the self-tapping screws after drilling.
Use the compressor as a template to drill holes and mount the compressor using the black mounting hardware that comes in the box containing the compressor. Attach the compressor ground wire to one of the mounting screws.
Push the air line onto the barbed fitting on the compressor, ensuring the air line covers all barbs. A small amount of water or lubricant and pushing with a slight circular motion will ease installation.
Remove the nut from the leader hose and install it over the air line from the check valve assembly. Push the air line from the check valve assembly into the barbed fitting on the compressor leader hose. Slide the nut over the fitting and tighten securely.
Use existing grommets in the floorboard or firewall to route the harness from the cab to the frame-mounted compressor. If a hole must be drilled, drill a 1" (25 mm) diameter hole and install the provided grommet. You may need to trim the grommet for an exact fit. Seal all grommets or holes to prevent elements from entering the cab. Do not route the wiring harness near the exhaust pipe, muffler, or catalytic converter; routing along the top of a crossmember or over a heat shield is recommended.
Drill a 1" (25 mm) diameter hole for the harness grommet. After drilling, insert the grommet and "walk" the material around the inside edge of the drilled hole. You may need to trim the grommet to get an exact fit.
With the air springs deflated, use a hose cutter to cut the air line already installed between the air springs and the inflation valves. Install the provided "T" fittings by pushing the air line into each leg of the "T" until you feel a definite "click"; each line should go in 9/16" (14 mm). Connect a single length of air line to the open leg of the "T" and route it across the chassis from the far side over the exhaust system heat shields and along the frame up to the compressor. Avoid heat sources, sharp edges, and tight bends. Route air lines from the low-pressure switch to the gauge barb.
Route the power wire to the vehicle fuse box and determine which open terminal (accessory, etc.) works only when the key is in the "on" or accessory position. The terminal should have an amperage rating higher than the 15 amp in-line fuse. Connection depends on your vehicle's fuse type: use adapter #1 for barrel type fuses, adapter #2 for standard spade type fuses, or adapter #3 for smaller spade type fuses found on many late-model vehicles. If using adapter #1 or #2, crimp a 1/4" (14-16 GA) female connector to the wire. If using adapter #3, crimp a 3/16" (14-16 GA) female connector. Connect the adapter to the "HOT" side of the fuse.
With the ignition on, the compressor will turn on and fill the system to 10 PSI (1 BAR) before shutting off. Press the on/off button to inflate both air springs and use the small deflate button to adjust the pressure. Inflate to 30 PSI / 2.06 BAR (or 20 PSI / 1.4 BAR for Air Lift 1000 kits). Check all fittings and inflation valve cores with a solution of dish soap and water in a spray bottle for leaks.
Never run the compressor longer than four minutes continuously. Allow at least five minutes for cool-down before starting the compressor again.
If the compressor runs continually or often, there is a leak in the system. Disconnect the compressor at the fuse box and test for leaks with a soapy water solution. Check all fittings and inflation valve cores.
The low pressure sensor (part 24558, 5 PSI) protects the air springs from failure resulting from low pressure in the unloaded condition. It is preset to maintain a minimum pressure of 5 PSI (0.34 BAR) in the air springs unless the setting was changed. The sensor measures the pressure in each spring and turns on the compressor if the pressure falls below the set pressure.
If adding this control system to an Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 application, no modifications to the low pressure sensor are necessary. If adding to an Air Lift 1000 or Ride Control application that requires a minimum of 10 PSI (0.7 BAR), you must adjust the low pressure sensor. Remove the rubber plug with pliers, use a hex wrench to turn the screw clockwise 4 1/4 turns, and push the rubber plug back into the top of the sensor.
No. The installation of this kit does not alter the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or payload of the vehicle. You must check your vehicle's owner's manual and not exceed the maximum load listed for your vehicle.

Verify that the power wire is connected to a fused ignition terminal that is "HOT" when the key is in the "on" or accessory position. Check that the 15 amp in-line fuse is not blown. Confirm that the low pressure sensor is properly connected and that air pressure in the springs is below the sensor's set pressure (5 PSI or 10 PSI if adjusted). Verify all wire connections are secure and color-coded correctly per the electrical schematic.
Ensure air lines are fully inserted into barbed fittings and tee union legs. For barbed fittings, the air line should cover all barbs. For tee unions, push the air line in until you feel a definite "click" and it goes in 9/16" (14 mm). If leaking persists, remove the line, apply a small amount of water or lubricant, and reinstall with a slight circular or twisting motion. Check that compression fittings on the Heavy Duty Compressor leader hose are tightened securely.
