The LoadLifter 5000 is an air spring suspension support system manufactured by Air Lift Company. It provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support with air adjustability from 5–100 PSI (0.34–7 BAR). The system uses reinforced, commercial-grade convolute bellows with an internal jounce bumper and is designed for Ford F-450 and F-550 trucks.
Yes, kit 57345 is designed for Ford F-450 and F-550 trucks. However, installation requirements vary by model year. 2005–16 models require specific modifications on the driver's side (adding flat washers to the upper bracket), and 2017 and later models require spacing adjustment to the line holder inside the driver's side frame rail.
Yes, but V-10 Triton models require additional preparation. You must remove the existing shock heat shield and its retaining strap from the shock, then install the replacement shock heat shield (part P) included in the kit. This is necessary to maintain proper clearance and heat protection.
The kit requires a minimum of 9 inches (229 mm) of clearance between the frame and the tire for a fully inflated air spring. You must measure this distance before installation to ensure the system will fit your vehicle.
Your vehicle may be equipped with a rear brake proportioning valve, which could be affected by a load assist product. Air Lift recommends checking with your dealer before installation. However, if your vehicle does not have a rear brake proportioning valve or is equipped with an anti-lock brake system, installation will have no effect on brake system performance.

Normal ride height is the distance between the bottom edge of the wheel-well and the center of the hub with the vehicle in the "as delivered" condition. To determine it: (1) remove unusual loads and examine the vehicle from the side on a level surface; (2) if necessary, use a jack to raise the rear end to the original "as delivered" ride height; (3) measure the distance between the center of the hub and the bottom edge of the wheel well. Record this measurement—you will need it during installation.
Yes. After raising the vehicle, you must remove the wheels. Before proceeding, check that the distance between the center of the hub and the bottom edge of the wheel is at the normal ride height previously recorded. If not, raise the frame or lower the axle as necessary to restore the original distance.
For 2017 and later models, you must space the line holder that is inside the driver's side frame rail above the axle inward so that the end of the stud is flush to the nut. To do this: (1) remove the nut from the line holder above the axle and the one forward of it; (2) pull the lines inward and install six 3/8" flat washers (I) over the stud of the line holder above the axle; (3) re-insert both line holders into the frame rail; (4) reinstall and tighten the nuts securely. Do not add washers to the forward line holder.
The assembly sequence is: (1) set a roll plate (D) on both ends of the air spring (A) with the radiused edge toward the spring; (2) install a 90-degree swivel air fitting (G) finger tight plus 1 1/2 turns, tightening only on the metal hex nut—do not overtighten; (3) place the upper bracket (B) on top with legs facing down, guiding the swivel fitting through the large slotted hole; (4) place the lower bracket (C) so its flat edge mounts toward the upper bracket legs (inboard); (5) attach the upper bracket using 3/8" flat washers (I), lock washers (J), and hex-head bolts (N), torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm); (6) loosely attach the lower bracket using the same fasteners.
Set the assembled air spring on the leaf spring over the axle. The upper bracket must be in a legs-down position with the reinforcement lip facing up. This is the only correct mounting orientation.
The lower bracket is attached using U-bolts and a clamp bar: (1) place the short U-bolts (F) under the frame contact overload springs with threads facing up; (2) place the clamp bar (O), legs down, on the front side of the lower bracket between the frame contact overload and the bracket; (3) attach the lower bracket to the frame contact overload using 3/8" flat washers (I) and 3/8" lock nuts (H); (4) torque to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm).
Yes, drilling is required on most vehicles. Most or all existing holes and slots in the frame do not exist on 2008 or later models and must be drilled. On 2005–16 models, some existing holes may be available, but you will still need to drill at least one 7/16" hole using the bottom rear hole of the upper bracket as a template. You must check the back side of the frame for clearance issues with brake lines, gas lines, and electrical lines before drilling, and temporarily relocate any obstacles.
Drill one 7/16" hole through the frame using the bottom rear hole of the upper bracket as a template. Then drill out the remaining three slots to 7/16" on both the driver's side and passenger's side. Use sharp 7/16" drill bits.
Yes, you must drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole for each Schrader valve in your chosen location. The manual shows three options: inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or the license plate or rear bumper area. Make clean, square cuts when installing the air lines; do not use scissors or wire cutters.
Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as they will damage the line.
The upper bracket is attached to the air spring assembly using 3/8" hex-head bolts (N) with 3/8" flat washers (I) and lock washers (J), torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). The upper bracket is then attached to the frame using 7/16" hex-head bolts (M) with 7/16" flat washers (L) and 7/16" lock nuts (E), torqued to 44 lb.-ft. (60 Nm).
The lower bracket is attached to the air spring assembly using 3/8" hex-head bolts (N) with 3/8" flat washers (I) and lock washers (J), torqued to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). The lower bracket is then attached to the frame contact overload using 3/8" flat washers (I) and 3/8" lock nuts (H), torqued to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm).
Install the 90-degree swivel air fitting (G) finger tight plus 1 1/2 turns. Use a wrench to tighten on the metal hex nut only. Do not overtighten. The fitting is precoated with sealant.
The air springs compress to 3 5/16" (84 mm) and extend to 9 1/8" (231 mm). Regardless of load, air pressure should always be adjusted so that normal ride height is maintained at all times. The air springs will last much longer if they are not limiting the suspension in either compression or extension.
Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the line. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for vehicle movement. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system, and avoid sharp bends and edges.
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). However, the air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI, and do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's maximum gross vehicle weight rating or payload rating.
The minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR).
Do not inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle. Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if not handled properly.
Maintain at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between air springs and air lines and any heat sources. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. If there is no heat shield but one is required, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Perform the following checks in order: (1) Clearance test—inflate to 40–60 PSI and ensure at least 1/2" clearance from anything that might rub (tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, brake cables); (2) Leak test—inflate to 40–60 PSI and check all connections for leaks; (3) Heat test—verify at least 6" clearance from heat sources; (4) Fastener test—recheck all bolts for proper torque; (5) Road test—drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
Inflate the air springs to 40–60 PSI and ensure at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub. Be sure to check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables.
Inflate the air springs to 40–60 PSI and use a spray bottle with a dish soap and water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core for leaks. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR). If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.
Check air pressure weekly.
Use a spray bottle with a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core for leaks. Identify the source of the leak before deflating and removing the air spring. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Yes, kit 57345 is designed for Ford F-450 and F-550 trucks. Installation requirements vary by model year: 2005–16 models require flat washers on the driver's side upper bracket, and 2017+ models require spacing adjustment to the line holder. V-10 Triton models require removal and replacement of the shock heat shield.
You need a minimum of 9 inches (229 mm) of clearance between the frame and tire for a fully inflated air spring. Measure this before installation.
Essential tools include: hoist or floor jacks, safety stands, torque wrench, 7/16" and 9/16" wrenches, ratchet with sockets, sharp 7/16" and 5/16" drill bits, heavy-duty drill, hose cutter or razor blade, air compressor, and spray bottle with soapy water.
Yes. You must drill at least one 7/16" hole for the upper bracket and drill out three additional slots to 7/16" on both sides. You also need to drill 5/16" holes for the Schrader valves. Check the back side of the frame for brake lines, gas lines, and electrical lines before drilling.
Upper bracket to air spring: 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). Upper bracket to frame: 44 lb.-ft. (60 Nm). Lower bracket to frame: 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). 90-degree swivel fitting: finger tight plus 1 1/2 turns only.
Perform clearance test (1/2" minimum from all components at 40–60 PSI), leak test (check all connections with soapy water), heat test (6" minimum from heat sources), fastener test (recheck all torque), and road test (drive 10 miles and recheck).
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never exceed 100 PSI. If an air leak develops, use soapy water to locate it before deflating the system.
Ensure the air spring is properly aligned in the brackets. With the air spring still loose in the lower brackets, align it inboard and outboard using the slotted holes so that it is uniformly positioned between the brackets. Maintain at least a thumbs-width of clearance between the uninflated air spring and the frame. After alignment, inflate to 40–60 PSI and verify at least 1/2" clearance from the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. If clearance is still insufficient, the vehicle may not meet the minimum 9" frame-to-tire clearance requirement.
Use a spray bottle with a dish soap and water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. The soapy water will bubble at the leak location. Identify the source before deflating and removing the air spring. Common leak sources are loose connections at the Schrader valves or the 90-degree swivel fitting. Tighten the connection or replace the affected component. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested.
Recheck all bolts for proper torque. The correct torque values are: upper bracket to air spring 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm), upper bracket to frame 44 lb.-ft. (60 Nm), and lower bracket to frame 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). Use a torque wrench to ensure all fasteners are tightened to specification. Perform this check after the initial 10-mile road test.
