No. Installing air springs will not change the weight ratings (GAWR, GCWR, and/or GVWR) of your vehicle. You must not exceed your vehicle's GVWR, as stated in your vehicle's owner's manual. Exceeding the GVWR is dangerous and voids the Air Lift warranty.
Any type of load assist product could affect brake performance on vehicles equipped with a rear brake proportioning valve. Air Lift recommends that you check with your vehicle's dealer before installing this product. If your vehicle does not have a rear brake proportioning valve or is equipped with an anti-lock brake system, installation will have no effect on brake system performance.
Normal Ride Height is the distance between the bottom edge of the wheel well and the center of the hub with the vehicle in the "as delivered" condition. You must measure this before installation to establish a baseline for proper air spring adjustment. Remove unusual loads and ensure the vehicle is on a level surface. If leaf springs are sagging badly, use a jack to raise the rear end to the original "as delivered" ride height before measuring.

On some late model vehicles, the chassis has a round jounce bumper under the frame that will interfere with the installation of the air spring assembly. If your vehicle is equipped with this style jounce bumper, you must remove and discard it. The internal jounce bumper inside the LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air spring replaces the factory bumper.
Yes. You must drill one 1/2" hole in the side of the frame rail to attach the upper bracket. Before drilling, you must check for hydraulic lines, gas lines, and electrical wires that may need to be moved aside on either side of the frame. You must also drill a 5/16" hole to install the inflation valves, typically in the wheel well or lower body ahead of the rear wheel.
Before drilling any holes in the frame, you must check for hydraulic lines, gas lines, and electrical wires that may have to be moved aside on either side of the frame. Failure to do so could result in damage to critical vehicle systems.
Use a hose cutter (Air Lift P/N 10530), a razor blade, or a sharp knife to cut the air line. A clean, square cut is essential to prevent leaks. Do not use wire cutters or scissors, as these tools may flatten or crimp the air line, causing it to leak around the O-ring seal inside the elbow fitting. When trimming the excess air line before inserting it into the air fitting, cut off the air line leaving approximately 12 inches of extra air line.
Choose a convenient location for mounting the inflation valves where there is enough clearance around them for an air chuck. The recommended location is in the wheel well or lower body ahead of the rear wheel, with one on each side. The vehicle can be lifted on a hoist for short-term service work such as tire rotation or oil changes. However, if the vehicle will be on the hoist for a prolonged period of time, support the axle with jack stands to take the tension off the air springs. When raising the vehicle by the frame, make sure the system is at minimum pressure (5 PSI) to reduce tension on the suspension and brake components. Use of on-board leveling systems do not require deflation or disconnection.
You must perform the following checks: (1) Clearance test—inflate to 60 PSI and ensure at least 1/2" clearance around each bellow away from tire, brake drum, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables; (2) Leak test—inflate to 60 PSI and check all connections with soapy water solution; (3) Heat test—ensure at least 6" clearance from heat sources; (4) Fastener test—recheck all bolts for proper torque, and re-torque axle clamp bar carriage bolt lock nuts to 16 ft/lbs after 100 miles; (5) Road test—drive 10 miles and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
