The two kits are visually identified by their roll plates. The standard LoadLifter 5000 (57395) has zinc-plated steel roll plates and black nylon air lines. The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate (88395) has black powder-coated roll plates and black nylon air lines. Both kits use the same installation procedure. The air springs differ: 57395 uses part 11951 roll plates and 58437 air springs, while 88395 uses part 11967 roll plates and 58496 air springs.
Yes, the kit can be installed on vehicles with fifth-wheel hitches. If your truck has the standard factory Reese fifth-wheel hitch, use the supplied 1/2" hardware as directed. If you have an aftermarket fifth-wheel hitch with side plates along the frame, you may need to reuse the existing hardware or drill a 1/2" hole through the plate using the frame slot as a template. If the aftermarket hitch has no attaching hardware on the side where the frame slot is, drilling is required. Consult the manual's driver's and passenger's side brace installation sections for specific hardware options.
Required tools include: metric and standard open-end box wrenches (set), ratchet with metric and standard sockets (set), drill with 5/16" drill bit, torque wrench, hose cutter or razor blade or sharp knife, hoist or floor jack, two safety stands, safety glasses, air compressor or compressed air source, and spray bottle with dish soap/water solution. Yes. The jounce bumpers must be removed from under the frame over the axle. Wire brush the stud on the jounce bumper and use penetrating oil to aid removal. The socket size for the nut is typically 15 mm. The existing jounce bumper holes are later used to mount the upper bracket assembly.
Yes, on the driver's (left) side, you may need to disconnect the wiring harness from the frame rail to gain clearance for the upper brace. Also push out the harness connector holding electrical lines to the gas/DEF tank bracket to improve socket and bolt access. On gas engine models, emissions lines running along the inside of the frame rail must be relocated by carefully pushing out the line holder from the frame above the axle. Remove any emissions/fuel line and electrical wire loom retaining clips forward or rearward of the axle to aid in positioning the lines once the upper brace is installed. These components are reconnected after the braces are secured.
Drilling may be required depending on your fifth-wheel hitch configuration. If you have an aftermarket fifth-wheel hitch with side plates along the frame that does not have existing attaching hardware on the side where the frame slot is, you must drill a 1/2" hole through the plate using the slot in the frame as a template. Drill the hole as far to the rear of the slot as possible. It may be necessary to mark and remove the outer bracket from the frame to drill the hole correctly, then reattach it. You must also drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole for the Schrader valve installation location. Clear any electrical or hard lines from the drilling area to avoid damage.
Yes. Cut the air line in half using a hose cutter, razor blade, or sharp knife. Make clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters. After cutting, use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for movement. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system.
The air spring is attached to both the lower bracket and upper bracket using 3/8"-24 x 7/8" hex cap screws (EE) with 3/8" lock washers (FF) and 3/8" flat washers (V). Torque these bolts to no more than 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). This applies to both the driver's (left) side and passenger's (right) side assemblies.
The 3/8"-16 x 1 1/4" carriage bolts (O) that attach the upper bracket to the frame brace should be torqued to 15 lb.-ft. (20 Nm). These bolts are capped with 3/8" flat washers (V) and 3/8" nylon lock nuts (U).
The axle clamp bar bolts (the 3/8"-16 x 7" carriage bolts with 3/8" flat washers and 3/8" nylon lock nuts) should be torqued to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). Tighten the hardware evenly until it touches the axle. Do not pinch the hard brake line on the passenger's (right) side while tightening.
The leaf spring U-bolt hardware (3/8" flat washers and 3/8" nylon lock nuts) should be torqued to 10 lb.-ft. (14 Nm). Once tight, the upper and lower brackets will not be parallel and may look out of alignment, but this is normal due to the bracket mount design.
The swivel elbow fitting (Y) should be installed into the top of the air spring finger tight, then tightened an additional 1 1/2 turns. No torque wrench value is specified for this fitting.
The manual provides three suggested locations for the Schrader valve: (A) inside the fuel tank filler door, (B) inside the rear wheel wells, or (C) license plate or rear bumper area. Choose the location that works best for your vehicle and drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole if necessary. The valve is installed in the chosen location after the air line has been cut and routed.

It may be necessary on some models to not tighten the axle clamp bar evenly on the passenger's (right) side so that the clamp bar will clear the hard brake line. Adjust the tightening sequence to avoid pinching the brake line while still achieving the 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm) torque specification.
