These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Jeep Grand Cherokee (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

The kit includes: 1 driver/left side bar, 1 passenger/right side bar, 2 front mounting brackets, 2 rear mounting brackets, 4 thread nut plates, 8 half-inch by 1¼-inch hex bolts, 4 half-inch by 2-inch hex bolts, 12 half-inch flat washers, and 12 half-inch lock washers.
This sidebar is designed for 1999–2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.
Remove all contents from the box and verify that all parts are present against the parts list. Read the installation instructions carefully before beginning work.
Start with the driver/left side sidebar. After completing all steps for the driver side, repeat the same procedure for the passenger/right side sidebar.
Attach both the front and rear mounting brackets to the side bar using one ½-inch by 2-inch hex bolt, one ½-inch flat washer, and one ½-inch lock washer for each bracket. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten at this stage.
Slide the nut plate into the vehicle's front suspension mount, then secure the front mounting bracket to the nut plate using two ½-inch by 1¼-inch hex bolts, two ½-inch flat washers, and two ½-inch lock washers. Snug but do not tighten the hardware at this time.
Secure the rear mounting bracket to the vehicle's rear suspension mount in the same manner as the front bracket: use the nut plate, two ½-inch by 1¼-inch hex bolts, two ½-inch flat washers, and two ½-inch lock washers. Snug but do not tighten the hardware at this time.
After aligning the sidebar properly, tighten all hardware. Do not fully tighten fasteners until the sidebar is properly aligned and both front and rear brackets are in position.
The step pad closest to the end of the tube should be positioned toward the rear of the vehicle.
Wax the product after installing to protect your investment. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives, as these could damage the finish. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used to clean. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap to clean.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. Check the installation regularly to maintain safety and prevent loosening over time.
