ARIES 3" side bars are more than a fancy decal for your truck, Jeep or SUV. They are a confident first step on each new adventure. These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Ford Ranger SuperCrew (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

You will need a ratchet, wrench set, socket set, level, and torque wrench. The level is essential for proper sidebar alignment, and the torque wrench is required to apply the correct fastening torque.

Install the passenger (right) side first: attach the front mounting bracket with 2 hex bolts, 2 lock washers and 2 flat washers (do not tighten); attach the center mounting bracket the same way; attach the rear mounting bracket the same way; attach the sidebar to all three brackets with 6 combo bolts (do not tighten); level and adjust the sidebar, then tighten all hardware. Repeat the entire sequence for the driver (left) side.
Leaving hardware loose until all brackets and the sidebar are attached allows you to level and adjust the sidebar for proper alignment before final tightening. This ensures the sidebar is correctly positioned before fasteners are fully secured.
After attaching the sidebar to all three mounting brackets with combo bolts (but before final tightening), use a level to check the sidebar alignment. Adjust as needed, then tighten all hardware once the sidebar is level and properly positioned.
Six 8-1.25mm × 25mm combo bolts attach each sidebar to the mounting brackets. These bolts secure the sidebar to the front, center, and rear mounting brackets (two bolts per bracket location).
Each mounting bracket is attached with two 10-1.5mm × 25mm hex bolts, two 10mm lock washers, and two 10mm flat washers. The front bracket uses this hardware, as do the center and rear brackets.
The torque specification for 10mm bolts is 16 ft-lbs. This applies to the hex bolts securing the mounting brackets to the rocker panel.
The torque specification for 8mm bolts is 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the combo bolts securing the sidebar to the mounting brackets.
Do not slide or rotate the sidebar on the cradles during installation, as this may damage the finish. Keep the sidebar stationary while attaching and tightening the combo bolts.
Wax the sidebars after installation and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer. Use only mild automotive detergent for cleaning. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or polishes containing abrasives, as these will damage the finish. For stainless steel or aluminum finishes, aluminum polish may be used to remove small scratches and scuffs.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify an inspection interval, but regular checks will help maintain proper installation and prevent loosening over time.
