For the conqueror in every truck, Jeep or SUV owner, the ARIES grille guard offers the tough, trail-ready look you demand. It begins with a one-piece frame of 1/4" thick welded plates and 1-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing for a solid build. Each one is made with a vehicle-specific design for a better fit, easier install and more secure mounting. The side brush guards are custom-bent to contour to the profile of your vehicle, while the mounting brackets are positioned for a no-drill application. This means pre-existing factory holes are used to ensure optimum fitment and less vibration. This particular custom grille guard fits specific years of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (see application info to verify). The ARIES grille guard also makes it easy to customize the look of your vehicle. Not only does the crossbar have two pre-drilled holes for mounting aftermarket LED lights, but many of our grille guards are also available in two finish options -- polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black steel. The stainless steel grille guard is made with 304 stainless, being high in nickel content and truly resistant to rust and corrosion. This option comes with a mirror-like polished finish for a definitive shine. The semi-gloss black grille guard is made with high-strength carbon steel for added strength. It features a tough, dual-layer E-coat and black powder coat finish to protect against rust, scratches and the elements. All ARIES grille guards also come with rubber stripping along the risers to protect the frame against scuffs and scratches.

The ARIES 4092 1-1/2-Inch Black Steel Grille Guard, No-Drill, Select Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (Part #BBDR4092) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The kit includes one grille guard, two frame mounting brackets, two driver/left and passenger/right top brackets, hardware (12mm and 10mm hex bolts, washers, lock washers and hex nuts in specified quantities), two double bolt plates, two single bolt plates, and two adhesive-backed foam tape strips. See the Parts List on page 1 for complete quantities of each component.
The grille guard can be installed on vehicles with factory tow hooks, but the tow hooks must be removed first and cannot be reinstalled once the grille guard is in place. If your vehicle does not have tow hooks, you will need to cut out the indented area in both sides of the plastic bumper insert to clear the mounting brackets.
Yes. The manual states that installation may interfere with front mounted sensors. If your vehicle has front sensors, you should consult with the manufacturer or an installer before proceeding, as the manual does not provide sensor relocation instructions. A parking sensor relocation kit is available separately (shown in Figure 18), but the manual does not specify whether it is required.
You will need a ratchet, utility knife, torque wrench, and socket set. The utility knife is used to cut the plastic bumper insert if required. The torque wrench is essential to properly tighten hardware to specification.
Yes. The manual states that assistance is highly recommended. In Step 11, you must have assistance to hold the grille guard in position on the mounting brackets while you attach it with bolts.
Yes. Step 6 requires you to remove the plastic cover between the top of the radiator and the grille, and Step 7 requires you to remove the grille itself. The grille is held in place with screws at the top and several clips. You will reinstall the grille after the top brackets are installed.
Cutting may be required. If your vehicle has factory tow hooks, you must remove them. If your vehicle does not have tow hooks, you must cut out the indented area in both sides of the plastic bumper insert to clear the mounting brackets. The manual recommends making several small cuts for best fit and warns not to cut through the top or bottom edge of the panel. Additional trimming of the bumper opening may be necessary to clear the bracket assembly.
Use the following torque specifications: M6 bolt = 3 ft-lbs, M8 bolt = 7 ft-lbs, M10 bolt = 16 ft-lbs, M12 bolt = 28 ft-lbs. These specifications apply unless otherwise noted in the instructions. Proper torque is essential to prevent damage to the product or vehicle.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove factory tow hooks if equipped, or cut bumper insert if not equipped; (2) Assemble driver side frame bracket with mounting bracket using 8mm bolts; (3) Insert frame bracket assembly through bumper opening and secure to frame with 12mm bolt plates; (4) Repeat for passenger side; (5) Remove grille and top cover; (6) Install top brackets with adhesive foam tape and factory bolts; (7) With assistance, attach grille guard to mounting brackets with 10mm bolts; (8) Align and tighten all hardware; (9) Reinstall grille and top cover; (10) Perform final tightening and alignment.
No. The installation process requires a staged tightening approach. In Steps 2–4, you snug but do not fully tighten the frame bracket hardware. In Step 9, you do not tighten the top bracket hardware. In Step 11, you do not tighten the grille guard to bracket hardware. Only in Step 12 do you fully tighten the bracket to vehicle hardware. Final tightening of all hardware occurs in Step 13 after alignment is complete.
The frame bracket is secured to the vehicle frame using 12mm bolt plates. Insert the double bolt plate through the two holes in the side of the frame and out through the frame bracket, then secure with two 12mm flat washers, two 12mm lock washers, and two 12mm hex nuts. Separately, insert the single bolt plate and secure with one 12mm flat washer, one 12mm lock washer, and one 12mm hex nut. Snug but do not fully tighten until final alignment is complete.
Apply a layer of the included adhesive-backed foam tape to the bottom of each top bracket. Locate the two factory hex bolts attaching the top of the bumper to the inner bumper bracket. Remove the outer hex bolt only. Reuse that factory bolt to attach the top bracket to the back of the bumper. Do not tighten at this time. Repeat for both driver and passenger sides.
With assistance, hold the grille guard in position on the outside of the mounting brackets. Attach it using six 10mm hex bolts, twelve 10mm flat washers, six 10mm lock washers, and six 10mm hex nuts. Do not tighten at this time. After checking alignment and adjusting as required, fully tighten only the bracket to vehicle hardware. Do not fully tighten the grille guard to bracket hardware until after the grille and top cover are reinstalled and final alignment is complete.
No. To reinstall the grille, you must loosen the hardware attaching the grille guard to the brackets and tilt the grille guard forward to make room. After reinstalling the grille and top cover, reinstall the grille guard and then level, adjust, and fully tighten all hardware.
Wax the grille guard after installing and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use polish or wax containing abrasives, as these can damage the finish. For stainless steel finishes, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs. For gloss black finishes, use mild soap only. Clean with mild automotive detergent. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes, or similar products that may damage the finish.
After installation, perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify the inspection interval, but recommends checking the installation regularly as part of routine vehicle maintenance.
Yes, but tow hooks must be removed and cannot be reinstalled. Vehicles without tow hooks require cutting the plastic bumper insert.
The manual states installation may interfere with front-mounted sensors. A parking sensor relocation kit is available separately, but the manual does not specify whether it is required for your vehicle.

M6 = 3 ft-lbs, M8 = 7 ft-lbs, M10 = 16 ft-lbs, M12 = 28 ft-lbs. Use these unless otherwise noted in the instructions.

Wax after installing and regularly thereafter. Do not use abrasive polish or wax. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used for small scratches. Clean with mild automotive detergent only; avoid dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, and wire brushes.
