It begins with a one-piece frame of 1/4" thick welded plates and 1-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing for a solid build. Each one is made with a vehicle-specific design for a better fit, easier install and more secure mounting. The side brush guards are custom-bent to contour to the profile of your vehicle, while the mounting brackets are positioned for a no-drill application. This means pre-existing factory holes are used to ensure optimum fitment and less vibration. This particular custom grille guard fits specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500 (see application info to verify). The ARIES grille guard also makes it easy to customize the look of your vehicle. Not only does the crossbar have two pre-drilled holes for mounting aftermarket LED lights, but many of our grille g uards are also available in two finish options -- polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black steel. The stainless steel grille guard is made with 304 stainless, being high in nickel content and truly resistant to rust and corrosion. This option comes with a mirror-like polished finish for a definitive shine. The semi-gloss black grille guard is made with high-strength carbon steel for added strength. It features a tough, dual-layer E-coat and black powder coat finish to protect against rust, scratches and the elements. All ARIES grille guards also come with rubber stripping along the risers to protect the frame against scuffs and scratches.

No. All fasteners required for installation are included in the kit. The installation reuses the factory bumper bolt hardware to attach the Top Brackets to the Upper Bumper.
Assistance is highly recommended. The manual does not specify whether professional installation is required, but at minimum you will need help to hold the Grille Guard in position during assembly (Step 9).
No. The bumper does not need to be removed. If your vehicle has factory tow hooks, you only need to loosen the bumper hardware enough to rotate the bumper to remove the long hex bolts from the tow hooks. The Frame Brackets are inserted through the opening in the bumper.
Cutting may be required depending on your vehicle. If your Silverado 1500 does not have factory tow hooks, you must cut out the indented area in both sides of the plastic bumper insert to clear the Brackets. Make several small cuts for best fit and do not cut through the top edge of the panel.
No drilling is required. The installation uses existing factory mounting holes in the frame (the tow hook holes) and existing bumper bolt holes. The Frame Brackets are aligned with these existing holes.
1. Remove the radiator cover and grille. 2. On 2014-15 models, remove the plastic fascia from the top of the bumper. 3. Select and apply Adhesive Backed Foam Tape to the correct year-specific Top Bracket, then bolt it to the Upper Bumper using factory hardware (leave loose). 4. Remove factory tow hooks if equipped, or cut the bumper insert if not equipped. 5. Install the driver-side Frame Bracket and Bolt Plates (snug, do not tighten). 6. Install the driver-side Mounting Bracket to the Frame Bracket (do not tighten). 7. Repeat steps 3-6 for the passenger side. 8. With assistance, bolt the Grille Guard to the Mounting Brackets (do not tighten). 9. Check alignment and tighten Frame Bracket hardware. 10. Level, adjust, and fully tighten all hardware. 11. Reinstall the grille and top plastic cover.
Hardware is left loose during the initial assembly steps to allow for alignment and adjustment of the Grille Guard. Once the Grille Guard is positioned correctly and aligned with the vehicle, you check alignment (Step 10), tighten the Frame Bracket hardware first, then level and adjust the Grille Guard before fully tightening all remaining hardware (Step 11).
The Adhesive Backed Foam Tape is applied to the backside of the Top Bracket to protect the finish on the bumper during installation. Two 50mm x 250mm rolls are included. The tape prevents the bracket from damaging the vehicle's paint when the bracket is bolted to the Upper Bumper.
Yes. To prevent the Top Brackets from damaging the finish on the vehicle during installation, cover the top of the bumper with removable masking tape before bolting the Top Bracket to the Upper Bumper.
At minimum, two people are needed. The manual states that assistance is highly recommended, and Step 9 specifically requires assistance to hold the Grille Guard up in position on the outside of the Mounting Brackets while bolting it in place.
The manual does not provide torque specifications for any fasteners. Contact Curt Manufacturing or consult a qualified installer for the correct torque values for the 12mm, 10mm, and 8mm hex bolts and nuts used in this installation.
After installation, perform periodic inspections to ensure all hardware is secure and tight. The manual recommends doing these checks regularly to maintain the integrity of the installation.
To protect your investment, wax the product after installing and perform regular waxing to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives that could damage the finish. For stainless steel finishes, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used to clean. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap to clean the Grille Guard.
